The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 10:00 am on Wednesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration and Township Public Administration from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region and Bago Region.
  • At 9:30 am on Wednesday, there was a presentation on the activities of the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) to the members from Mon State, Kaya State and Tanintharyi Region.
  • According to Reuters, the United Nations Credentials Committee approved the appointment of U Kyaw Moe Tun to be Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN and postponed the presentation of the military junta.
  • The Kawlin Township Public Administration Team announced on Thursday that it had burnt 110 cups of opium poppy confiscated in the area.

Revolutionary Activities

  • On Wednesday, the EU-ASEAN Summit released a statement calling on the military junta to immediately stop their violent activities in Myanmar and free all political prisoners including foreigners.
  • On their 644th day of protest, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Yinmabin North in Sagaing Region, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On Thursday morning, there was a mine attack on four members of the junta police from Myinmu Police Station on their way to a tea shop.
  • In Myinmu Township, there was a bomb attack from a drone on junta soldiers on a secret patrol in Shwegu Monastery in Allakattpa Village at 4:50 pm on Wednesday. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.
  • In Taze Township, the junta armed forces set fire to Mugyinsu Village and Thargara Village at about 10:00 am on Thursday.
  • In Mawlight, Bo Thein, a former member of the NLD and an individual candidate in the 2020 General Election who has been associated with the junta army since the military coup, was shot dead on Tuesday night.
  • On Monday, the junta army was attacked with mines four times on the Monywa-Pathein Road. Reportedly, eight junta soldiers died and 12 others were injured.
  • At about 9:00 pm on Monday, PDFs attacked the junta army stationed in Pale Township General Administration Department and the Police Station. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta army arrested and killed five residents of Wahyaung Village on Sunday.
  • Even amidst tight security measures of the military junta in Yangon, the Octopus Youth Society hung an anti-junta banner somewhere in the city.
  • In East Dagon Township, there was a mine attack on the junta army on patrol at 9:36 pm on Wednesday.
  • In South Dagon Myothit Township, two bombs exploded near the junta army Regiment (3) on 2nd Road at 9:30 pm on Wednesday.
  • In Pyin Oo Lwin in Mandalay Region, Maymyo General Strike Committee and GZ 21 conducted an anti-junta movement on Thursday.
  • In Aungmye Thazan Township, the junta army arrested four young people in a beer shop on Wednesday.
  • The Red Dragon Guerrilla Force, based in Madayar Township, has called for contributions to their campaign for 500 bullets.
  • In Madayar Township, PDFs conducted a mine attack on the junta convoy which had burnt local villages in the eastern part of the township on Thursday afternoon.
  • In Myingyan Township, six men were killed on Tuesday and the dead bodies were discarded on the outskirts of the township.
  • In Natmauk Township in Magwe Region, there was a mine attack on a military convoy between Kantha Village and Fattawye Village at 9:00 am on Wednesday. Reportedly, 14 junta soldiers died and four others were injured.
  • In Thayetchaung Township in Tanintharyi Region, local PDFs attacked a junta army camp on the Myeik-Dawei Road on Wednesday morning.
  • In Pulaw Township, a local PDF shot at a trader near Kyaukkar Village. Reportedly, he died on Tuesday evening.
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, there was a bomb explosion near the sign at the entrance to Kangyidaunk at about 6:00 am on Wednesday.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In an interview with RFA, Brigadier General Gun Maw, an officer of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), stated that Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO) and Kachin ethnic people had been working with the CRPH and NUG.
  • In Chin State, three soldiers and a policeman based in Hakha defected to CDF – Zophei.

The Military Council

  • In a statement to the 48th Rakhine State Day, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was not necessary for Rakhine State to repay 10 billion MMK to the Union.
  • In the meeting with government employees and community leaders in Putao Township in Kachin State on Wednesday, the junta leader said that the government will give priority to the remote area of Putao for good transportation and local development.
  • On Wednesday, the junta Deputy Minister of Home Affairs said that there were 6,276 seizures of illegal drugs in the current year and drugs worth over 1,069 billion MMK were confiscated.
  • The junta Ministry of Health issued a list of interviewees from the students from six self-administered regions who applied to medical universities.
  • The junta Minister of Electricity stated that despite having the capacity to produce 7287 MW of electricity in Myanmar, only 3064 MW could be produced.
  • On Wednesday, the military junta stated that the United Nations was supporting terrorism when they kept U Kyaw Moe Tun as Myanmar’s Permanent Representative.
  • The junta MSME Development Committee announced that MSME business people could apply for JICA and MEB loans.
  • On Wednesday, the 7th ASEAN quiz competition was conducted in Naypyidaw and Myanmar won the first prize.
  • Since the bilateral ceasefire between the junta army and Arakan Army (AA) in Rakhine State, the military junta has often been inspecting local people and it is still prohibiting the transportation of medicines.

Summary on 16 December

  • The United Nations will keep the Myanmar Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun in his role, he can therefore inform the international community about the violent activities of the military junta.
  • The NUG has had better cooperation with powerful ethnic armed organisations.
