The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The 64th meeting of the NUG was conducted on Tuesday morning. Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that it was time to uproot the main culprit who lessens the public’s property by half.
  • Saifuddin Abdullah, Malaysian Foreign Minister, said that the junta’s another imprisonment of Daw Aung San Su Kyi was showing a don’t-care attitude to the ASEAN 5-point consensus. He also called for relations with the NUG and NUCC.
  • Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG said that the UN Special Envoy must be careful not to act like she is recognizing the military junta and not to be politically exploited.
  • The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG said that they had been carefully watching the sudden trip of the UN Special Envoy to Myanmar.
  • According to United Bonds, the public can buy the NUG bonds with trust as they have been made most secure.
  • Spring Lottery, which has defeated the junta lottery, was one year old on 15 August. Reportedly, it would come again together with NUG Pay.

Revolution Activities

  • As a 523-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • In Ayadaw Township of Sagaing Region, there was a combined rally against the military dictatorship in a village which had been burnt down by the junta army on Tuesday afternoon.
  • On Tuesday, Kalay General Strike protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Pale, local PDFs conducted 4 attacks on the junta army in town and Pyusawti camp in Inbinti Village on 13 August. Reportedly, no less than 5 junta soldiers died.
  • In Pale Township, there were clashes between local PDFs and the junta army setting fire to local villages on 13 and 14 August. Reportedly, 22 junta soldiers died.
  • PDF South Monywa announced that the public were not to use the Monywa-Chaungoo road section as there might be a mine explosion due to heavy rain.
  • Indaw Revolution announced that they would temporarily close Indaw-Banmauk road section starting from Tuesday.
  • In Kyunghla Township, local PDFs conducted a bomb attack via drone on the junta Thaphanseit Police Camp.
  • In Yinmabin Township, CTPDF shot mortars at the junta armed forces in Bantbway Village at about 5:00 pm Monday.
  • In Pinlebu Township, local PDFs attacked the junta armed forces burning local villages. Reportedly, over 30 junta soldiers died, one other was caught alive and weapons were confiscated.
  • In Khin-U Township, junta soldiers killed 7 young people from Wungyi Village and discarded their bodies on the roadside.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, there was an anti-junta movement at a market on Tuesday, stepping over the photo of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • In Myeik, a car of the junta people’s army was attacked with mines near the local airport on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, one of their members died and no less than 5 others were seriously injured.
  • In Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region, the junta administrator of Thabyaywa Village was shot dead by Natogyi Regional People Defense Force.
  • In Sinku Township, Adventure – A.S.D Guerrilla carried out a bomb attack via drone on the junta armed forces in Ywathaya Village on Monday afternoon.
  • In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, there was a close attack on the junta police camp in Min Village. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers.
  • On the border of Thayet and Kamma, a local PDF attacked Yenatha Police Station at about 9:00 pm Monday.
  • In Myaing Township, the junta armed forces were attacked with 23 mines on Monday and Tuesday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and 3 others were injured.
  • In Yesagyo Township, the junta army set fire to Tartain Village on Monday night.
  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, local defence force warned non-CDM staff to leave the area as soon as possible.
  • In Shan South, Ywangan PDF and Joe Phyu Guerrilla Force announced on Monday that it was just false news that 3 of their members had died and weapons had been confiscated.
  • In Taunggyi, two leaders of local PDFs were arrested on Monday night.
  • In Titain Township of Chin State, the junta army raided Hainmoir Village on Sunday and killed two siblings in their teens.
  • Kanpetlet Township Public Administration announced that they would take legal action against those carrying out illegal logging and fishing with electric shock.
  • In Kachin State, a protest leader from Mamone Village and Moenyin Township NLD MP were arrested at the junta inspection gate out of Myitkyina on Sunday.
  • Democratic Youth Council have organized a youth talk at 6:00 pm 21 August.
  • In Bangkok,Thailand, there was a football match to raise fund for PDFs.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Rakhine State and Paletwa Area, 37 junta soldiers including officers died in a battle against the Arakan Army on 13 August.
  • In Kawkarait of Kayin State, a combined force of KNLA and PDF attacked the junta targets. Reportedly, 7 members of the junta armed forces died and 4 others including bank staff were injured.
  • In Kawthulay under control of Karen National Union-KNU, there are more than 350,000 IDPs in the area, according to KNU on Tuesday.
  • According to Karenni National Defence Force, 19 junta soldiers died in battles between the junta army and Karenni combined forces in the second week of August. As for the combined force, one of the members lost their life.

  • In Indaw Township of Sagaing Region, a combined force of KIA and PDF raided a junta construction gate near Nabar crossroads on Tuesday. Reportedly, they arrested 4 staff members for investigation and would release them after that.
  • In Muse Township of Shan North, there was a fighting between the junta armed forces and Ta’ang National Liberation Army on Monday morning.
  • In Chin State, there were ongoing battles in the lower part of the Thi River. According to CNA, 15 junta soldiers including an officer died.
  • CDF Hakha Council announced that they would take serious action against those taking advantage of the public in the revolution period.

The Military Council

  • On 1 August, the military junta set up a committee for fuel oil import from Russia, led by Chair of the junta Holdings.
  • The junta central trade committee released contact numbers to report about the suspension of sale or limited sale at some fuel stations.
  • The junta deputy minister of Trade and Commerce told exporters to do their businesses again and give them the USD in accordance with the order of the junta leader. He also threatened to arrest and take action against those who did not cooperate.
  • The junta Central Bank of Myanmar announced that those exempt from foreign currency restrictions could sell all 100% of their income to others outside of banks.
  • On Tuesday, the United Nations Special Envoy to Myanmar visited the country for the first time.
  • Hiromichi Watanabe, a Japanese MP, said on his social media that they had discussed with the junta leader for the release of Japanese documentary maker detained in Myanmar.
  • According to Yangon airport sources, a Y8 plane, owned by the junta army, had an accident in landing at Yangon airport on Tuesday morning as it hit a dog on the runway. Consequently, the airport had to be closed temporarily. After the plane was dragged away, the airport was reopened.
  • On Monday, the military junta in Pathein said that it was just a rumour about the current shortage of fuel oil. They also said that legal action would be taken against those who limited sale.
  • The military junta stated that they had arrested a couple for their involvement in a clearance operation of junta informers in Myanaung Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region.

Summary on 16 August

  • The military junta denied the shortage of fuel oil whereas the public could not buy the fuel as needed. Due to the junta’s mismanagement, the people have been facing hardships. The junta’s committee for import of fuel oil from Russia is allegedly for the interest of a handful of their members, not for the general public.
  • In the battles against the Arakan Army-AA, the junta armed forces just ended up with casualties and arrests.
  • The UN Special Envoy got started with the trip to Myanmar. It is necessary to watch if the trip will have any impact on the situation of the country.
