The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Defence- NUG released a video in which PDFs attacked the junta armed forces in Kyauktu Townshipwith projectiles and rockets.
  • At 10:00 am on Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration from Taninthayi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Zabyu Thiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw, there was a grenade attack at the junta police camp at about 6:00 pm Sunday.
  • In Muse of Shan North, there was gunfire at the police station in Honar Ward at 8:40 pm Sunday.
  • In Myanaung Township of Ayeyarwady Region, PDFs attacked the junta army Regiment (51).
  • In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, a rally of villagers protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday night, raising anti-junta banners.
  • In Chaung-U Township, the Youth Strike Committee conducted an anti-junta movement, chanting Thingyan slogans against the military dictatorship.
  • On Monday, a combined rally of Taze Township General Strike and some members of the WAB expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Shwebo Township, the S&C provided rice and oil to 158 households.
  • On Monday, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta armed forces. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 10 others were seriously injured.
  • In Pwint Phyu Township, youth led an anti-junta movement on Monday.
  • On Sunday, there were attacks with projectiles at the junta factories in Magwe Region.
  • In Kobe of Japan, over 2,500 Myanmar people and over 300 Japanese people joined the event of Spring Thingyan on Sunday.
  • In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, Basic Education Students’ Union carried out an anti-junta movement on Monday, hanging a banner for the victory of the revolution.
  • In Yangon, youth conducted an anti-junta movement themed- ‘Myanmar citizens regardless of religion and race’.
  • Myanmar people in Australia protested against the junta’s air attack which had killed over 100 people in Kantbalu Township.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • There were 373 battles in the areas under Karen National Union (KNU) in March.
  • In the area under the KNU Brigade (5) and the area in Shan North, the two-year anniversary of the Bamar People Liberation Army was held simultaneously.
  • In Lechar Township and Wansin of Shan South, there have been battles between two Shan EAOs; the RCSS and the SSPP.
  • On their one-year anniversary, the PNDF KK announced that they would try their best together with the alliance in the fight against the military dictatorship.
  • In Mindat Township of Chin State, the junta army conducted aerial bombing six times via two fighter jets on Panpar Village. According to the focal person of a local CDF, 3 people including a child aged 4 lost their lives.
  • In Loikaw of Kayah State, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta Central Pandal on Saturday. In response, the junta army shot mortars and conducted airstrikes on the IDPs. Consequently, some people got injured.

The Military Council

  • On Monday, the military junta announced an amnesty for 3,015 prisoners in commemoration of Myanmar’s New Year.
  • U Kyaw Win, the former Minister of Planning and Finance who had been sentenced to 3 years in prison, will reportedly be released from Yamethin Prison on Monday.
  • In his speech on the New Year, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing stated that despite the crisis last year, there would be an economic boom this year.
  • Among the prisoners who were released, over 200 were from Insein Prison.
  • On Monday, the military junta announced that the 5 citizens of Sri Lanka, who had been imprisoned in Insein Central Prison, were released and deported.
  • In Thatone Township of Mon State, a combined force of the KNLA attacked the police station in Thein Seik Village at 10:15 am Monday. Reportedly, 4 policemen died and their chief officer was injured.
  • In Taninthayi Region, over 60 people were released from the prisons in Myeik and Dawei on Monday. Reportedly, no political prisoner was included.
  • In Pathein of Ayeyarwady Region, there was a robbery at the house of a military officer in Southwest Military Headquarters at 7:30 pm Sunday.

Summary on 18 April

  • In recent days, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing has been out of sight. However, in the speech on Myanmar’s New Year, he said that there would be economic growth this year.
  • There have been daily battles in Chin, Sagaing, Magwe, Karenni, Mon and Kayin. Reportedly, the military junta has had less areas under their influence. In eastern Bago, the battlefield expanded. As for Ayeyarwady Region, they got started with guerrilla revolution activities in some areas.
