The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Natural Disaster Risks Management-NUG announced that they had provided humanitarian aid worth 208.74 million MMK in May.
  • Ministry of Education-NUG announced that in the federal democracy education system, only the recognitions by the organizations representing the public; state/ federal unit representatives, ethnic/ local-based representatives and educational institutions, and university councils with self-administration would be official ones.
  • Ministry of Education-NUG expressed their honour to the CDM students who had refused to take the matriculation exam by the military junta for the 2021-22 academic year and protested against the junta slavery education.
  • Ministry of Labour-NUG announced that legal action would be taken against the employers, who violate the labour laws, when the people’s government resumes office.
  • Reportedly, there was a meeting between Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye and anti-junta expatriates in France.
  • There was a meeting between Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and members of central, regional, district and township special investigation departments.

Revolution Activities

  • At the India-ASEAN Meeting of Foreign Ministers, the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs called for a new way to include the NUG and NUCC to help resolve Myanmar’s crisis.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, over 10,000 students have been attending self-help schools for the interim education.
  • On Friday, a rally of Hpakant people marched against the military dictatorship, destroying ABC and Dagon beer cans, products of the junta army confiscated by local PDF.
  • In Mandalay, there was a bank robbery at KBZ Bank Branch on 26 Street and 62/63 Streets at 11:00 am Friday. Reportedly, the junta armed forces blocked off the whole city for inspection.
  • In Maha Aungmye Township, U Yu Maw, a staff member of the municipal department, was shot by unknown gunmen in Seinban Ward on Friday morning.
  • In Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region, 35 junta soldiers, including Captain Aye Win Tun, died in the battle on 12 June, according to MDF-Shwebo-Myanmar Defense Force (MDF).
  • On Friday, Salingyi Township Students’ Union marched for the end of the military dictatorship, raising an anti-junta banner.
  • In Shwebo Township, there were exchanges of fire between the junta police motorboats demanding money from rafts with timber near Makauk Village. Reportedly, a policeman and an informer died.
  • As a 463-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Yinmabin North, local people conducted an anti-junta march with a banner for federalism.
  • In Myinmu Township, a convoy of 5 military trucks and 2 ration trucks was attacked with mines by the alliance of Black Eagle Defence Force-MMU at two different locations.
  • In Yangon Insein Prison, 11 political prisoners have been beaten for their hunger strike and kept in solitary confinement. Reportedly, they were seriously injured.
  • In Myinmu Township, a rally of local people and students marched to a village, protested against the military dictatorship and had an anti-junta talk to the public on Friday morning.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta armed forces shot dead 3 people from 2 villages on Thursday night. According to the local strike committee, a person got injured, another one died of a heart attack from the sound of gunfire and 7 houses were set on fire.
  • In Mizoram State of India, the self-help schools have been in urgent need of teaching aid for the children of Myanmar war refugees.
  • According to The Aizawl Post on Thursday, the ID cards have been issued to more than 99% of Myanmar war refugees in Mizoram State of India.
  • In commemoration of Shan Human Rights Day which fell on Thursday, Tai Students' Union led an event at a Shan national school in Loilin District of Shan South.
  • In Kutkai Township of Shan North, 3 people from an IDP camp lost their lives due to the junta armed forces shooting mortars wildly.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Ponnagyun Township of Rakhine State, local people heard the sound of ammunition fired near the junta army Regiment (550). According to local-based media, a junta soldier from the same force had been arrested by the Arakan Army-AA.
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, 9 PDF members in detention at Wawlay police station were rescued by KNDO. Among them were members of the Burmese Youth Network and a CDM policeman.
  • To get an M79 weapon for Karenni National Defence Force-KNDF Brigade (4), Karenni Logistics Team KLT) has carried out a lucky draw with a necklace and a hand-chain.

The Military Council

  • The military junta instructed staff members of hospitals in Taunggyi Township of Shan State to plant trees every Saturday, regardless of their positions.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that local products were being exported as finished goods rather than as raw materials.
  • On Friday morning, the junta Ministry of Education issued the results of the matriculation exam for 2022 academic year.
  • The junta Ministry of Transportation and Communication announced that they would allow a car permit as a special privilege for Myanmar sports people who had won gold medals in the 31st South East Asia Games.
  • According to the junta media, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing met with a delegation of PNLO led by Vice-Chair (1) in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
  • Reportedly, the military junta has been arranging another lawsuit against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi in detention with an additional charge of corruption.
  • In Ponnagyun of Rakhine State, Arakan Army-AA arrested a member of the junta army at a construction material shop at 3:00 pm Thursday. After that, Regiment 550 raided some houses and arrested about 10 people.

Summary on 17 June

  • It has been a long time since the production in Myanmar decreased. Consequently, most products have been imported from neighbouring countries. However, the junta leader aired that instead of raw materials, finished products were being exported. The military junta themselves will know best if it is a lie to the public or a piece of information submitted by the grassroots level of the junta staff.
  • In Rakhine State, the military tension has been intense. After the arrest of a junta soldier by AA, the junta army arrested Rakhine people in response. In the press conference before then, AA stated that they had done so as their people had been detained by the military junta.
  • As for Sagaing, Magwe, Chin and Karenni, they had battles against the junta armed forces. In Mandalay, there were anti-junta protests by the public amidst arrests and oppression.
