The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The PDF Headquarters announced on Tuesday that there had been an attack with projectiles at No. (21) Defense Factory based in Gazunma Village of Seikphyu Township in Magwe Region.
  • According to the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children- NUG on Tuesday, 637 women and 396 children died due to the violent activities of the junta armed forces all over the country from the military coup on 1 February 2021 to 15 April 2023.
  • In a government meeting, the Acting President claimed that it is important to seek solutions from regional countries for the needs of the public and the difficulties faced by the NUG.
  • The Union Prime Minister of the NUG stated that the military junta could no longer see anything due to their foolishness and they might conduct more air attacks on civilians.
  • The PDF Headquarters under the Ministry of Defence- NUG announced that the PDFs managed to take control of the junta Towerdine Camp in Kani Township of Sagaing Region and confiscate weapons as well.
  • At 10:00 am Monday, there was a meeting between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and the Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region, Bago Region, Taninthayi Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Mandalay Region and Yangon Region.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, there was a battle between Dawei Defense Team-DDT and Pyusawti Militia.
  • In Oatpho Township of Bago Region, an alliance of local PDFs attacked the junta police station in Wine Village Tract. Reportedly, 2 junta members died and another one was seriously injured.
  • Ma Thin Thin Kyu sent 50,000 MMK to the IDP Support Group and donated food to the IDPs in Bago Mountain Range.
  • In Laputta District of Ayeyarwady Region, there was an attack via mortars into the junta army Regiment (534) based in Mawlamyeingyun Township.
  • In Lewe Township of Nay Pyi Taw, there was a fire in Alar Air Force at about 11:00 pm Sunday.
  • In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, there was an attack via mortars and drone on the junta soldiers and Pyusawti members playing with water in Kangyigone Village.
  • In Salingyi Township, Anyar Pyit Tie Taung Lay Myar shared merits in memory of the martyrs of the Spring Revolution and the people who had lost lives in Pazigyi Village of Kantbalu Township.
  • There were bomb attacks via drone on the junta pandals in Wetlet Township, Ayadaw Township and Sagaing. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, the Devil Underground Force conducted an event on their one-year anniversary and in memory of the members who lost their lives.
  • In Shwebo Township, the S&C Social Group provided 145 IDP households with rice and oil.
  • In Thanlyin Township of Yangon Region, 3 junta members, including military officer Kyaw Swar Tun, were shot dead at a house in Tanbingone Ward.
  • In Madayar Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army stationing in Powataung Village in the period of Thingyan.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta army opened gunfire on Magyikan Village via a Mi35 helicopter. They also dropped some junta soldiers and raided the village.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Beelin Township under the control of Karen National Union Brigade (1), the junta army arrested a war veteran on 12 April. Reportedly, they had not released him by 18 April.
  • Zomi Federal Union (ZFU)/ PDF Zoland announced that the public is not to travel or go hunting as the junta armed forces have been on their way from Kalay in Sagaing Region to Titain in Chin State.
  • A combined force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and PDFs attacked and gained control of a camp belonging to the junta army and the Shanni National Army.
  • In Myawaddy in Kayin State, there was an attack on the junta army dressed in KNU uniform. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated.

The Military Council

  • In some townships of Yangon Region, the power was on 24/7 during Thingyan. According to Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation, there would be power outages for 8 hours a day all over Yangon starting on Tuesday.
  • According to the junta propaganda news, 4 protesters were arrested at a bridge in Kalay of Sagaing Region on the last day of Thingyan and their houses were sealed off.

Summary on 19 April

  • In the tenure of the military junta, there have been violations of human rights including freedom of expression. Even for protesting, people were arrested and their houses were sealed off. Under such circumstances, the words such as a free and fair election and democracy, uttered by the military junta are just a lie.
  • The defensive war by the revolutionary forces has been in great momentum recently. However, it needs to be consistent and the public need to contribute as much as possible as well.
