The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management- NUG announced that up to 455 people had lost their lives until 17 May due to Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar.
  • At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and the Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.
  • On Wednesday, the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) announced that 1,857 buildings such as houses, religious buildings, healthcare centers and schools were damaged in Chin State due to Cyclone Mocha.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Sagaing Region, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On Thursday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In a local village in the Letbadaung Area, the Strike Committee and local people protested against Chinese Government cooperation with the military junta.
  • In the south of Monywa Township, the junta army shot heavy artillery at about 8:30 pm Wednesday. Reportedly, some pagodas and some buildings were hit and damaged.
  • In Kani Township, PDFs attacked the junta army invading the area. Reportedly, more than 60 junta soldiers including officers died in local battles from 11 to 17 May.
  • In Kani Township, there has been ongoing fighting throughout the week. As the junta army suffered a great loss, they dropped cluster bombs from two fighter jets.
  • In Kani Township, the junta army fired mortars at Leshay Village on Tuesday. Reportedly, a child died and 10 people were arrested.
  • In Kantbalu Township, two displaced people were bitten by snakes. Reportedly, they have had to receive medical treatment.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, there was a mine attack on 3 military trucks near Kyikan Village at about 11:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers died and 10 others were injured.
  • In Myaing Township, PDFs attacked the junta army camp in Thayetkwa Village on Wednesday evening. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers died.
  • In the north of Myaing Township, the junta armed forces have been invading local villages since Tuesday. Reportedly, thousands of local people have had to run away.
  • In the west of Madayar Township in Mandalay Region, there was a battle between the junta army and the PDF near Mwaygyigone Village on Wednesday.
  • In Madayar Township, the junta army arrested two local people, broke their legs and shot them dead on 10 and 11 May.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, Gyankhine Township General Strike protested against the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Bago Region, there was opened fire in Taungoo Prison on Thursday afternoon. Reportedly, 3 prisoners escaped.
  • In Taninthayi Township of Taninthayi Region, there was a mine attack on the junta army at about 8:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties.
  • In the east of Dimawso Township in Karenni State, there was an attack via 2 fighter jets on local villages on Thursday morning. Reportedly, 5 houses and schools were damaged.
  • In Dimawso Township, the Rural Land donated stationery to the children of the IDPs.
  • In Pekone Township of Shan State, there was a battle between the junta army and local PDF on Wednesday. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers while two PDF members got injured.
  • To raise fund for the revolution, the comedy album of the Spring Victory will be shown worldwide.
  • The US will assist 200,000 USD for the victims of Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar. According to the US Embassy in Yangon, they have been joining hands with the partners on the ground.
  • In a new report on the human rights situation in Myanmar, the military junta procured weapons worth a billion USD from Russia, China, Singapore, India and Thailand after the coup.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • For the victims of Super Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine State, the NUG donated 1,000 lakh MMK to the Arakan Army.
  • The AA expressed thanks to the KIO and the MNDAA for supporting 3,000 lakh MMK and 1,000 lakh MMK respectively for the storm victims in Rakhine State.
  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, no less than 25 junta soldiers died in local battles within 3 days.
  • In Kachin State, the KIA attacked junta troop on the way from Hpakant to Moekaung from 14 to 16 May. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers including an officer died.
  • In the east of Dimawso Township in Karenni State, there has been heavy fighting between the junta armed forces and a combined force of the KA + the KNDF for 5 days. Reportedly, both sides lost members.

The Military Council

  • On Wednesday, the junta Minister of Transportation and Communication met with the storm victims from Sittway and Ponnagyun Township in Rakhine State. Reportedly, he supported them with money and other items.
  • On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the junta Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the World Food Programme in Myanmar for the rehabilitation of victims of Cyclone Mocha.
  • The military junta announced that 48 people had lost their lives and nearly 45,000 houses had been damaged up to Wednesday due to Cyclone Mocha.
  • On 15 May, the junta Private Healthcare Sector Committee announced that the licenses of 3 private hospitals in Mandalay had been revoked. Reportedly, those hospitals had employed CDM doctors and staff.
  • The junta Ministry of Electricity has been arranging with 1,020 staff members to supply electricity in Rakhine State which has suffered from Cyclone Mocha.

Summary on 19 May

  • The military junta has revoked the licenses of private hospitals which employed CDM healthcare staff. They have arrested CDM staff and confiscated their property. In this way, they have been oppressing those in the CDM movement.
  • Since the coup, the military junta has bought weapons worth a billion USD. In other words, they spent most of the budget on the defence sector.
