Spring Revolution Daily News for 19 November 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Magwe Hluttaw adopted the draft on writing up the interim planning for Magwe Federal Unit. 
  • According to Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG, they have been providing support to the displaced people and the casualties in local battles in Northern Shan State. Until 16 November, they have given aid worth 30,950,000 MMK. 
  • In Kawlin, the NUG called on local staff who had joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) to contact local administration to reserve public service sectors. 
  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, the two junta fighter jets dropped cluster bombs and fired machine guns on the middle of Weilu Village without any battle. 
  • Somewhere in Sagaing Region in No. (1) military region of People’s Defence Force (PDF) under Ministry of Defence-NUG, a strategic-level coordinated training exercise was conducted. 
  • According to Union Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG, they were able to sell the shares of Spring Development Bank worth 3 million USD within 6 hours. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Kawa Township of Bago Region, Chit Min Ko, a soldier from the junta army regiment (559), defected to local PDF on 1 November. 
  • In Yetashay Township, there was a battle between the junta army and PDF in Padaukgone Village at about 7:00 am Friday. Reportedly, the junta soldiers conducted the attack with the assistance of the air force. 
  • In the east of Taungoo, a local PDF attacked the junta army regiment (39) in Laymai Village since 5:00 pm Friday. 
  • In the south of Shwekyin Township, a combined force of PDFs attacked and took control of a junta camp at the foot of the mountain near Kyar Chaung Village. Afterwards, the junta army dropped bombs on the village by air. 
  • In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, there was an attack on Pyusawti Militia carrying weapons in a hearse. Reportedly, 3 junta members died and the weapons were confiscated. 
  • Mandalay residents expressed their support for Shwe Pyi Soe, a local urban operation. 
  • The two sides of the armed forces blockaded the road section connecting Kachin State and Sagaing Region due to battles. 
  • In Shwebo Township and Wetlet Township of Sagaing Region, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta troops and camps. 
  • Committee Representing Tanintharyi Hluttaw adopted a draft on planning the interim Constitution. Regarding it, the political groups in Myeik and Dawei expressed their objection. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) (606) based in the northern military region was involved in a battle to seize the town of Kun Long, a part of Operation 1027 in Northern Shan State. 
  • The junta army has failed to resist the offensive by the revolution forces. Therefore, they have violated the international military law, abusing civilians as human shields. The Three Brotherhood of the Northern Alliance released a statement about it. 
  • In Karenni State, there has been ongoing fighting in Loikaw. So, Commander in Chief of the KNDF called on the townspeople to leave the town. 
  • At the time of Operation 1027 in great momentum in Northern Shan State, the spokesperson of Karen National Union (KNU) stated on Friday that they would also raise the military momentum. 
  • On Friday evening, Pa-O National Liberation Organization announced that the multi-ethnic people, who had to run away due to local battles in Karenni State, could take refuge in the areas of the PNLO’s bases. They added that they would help the displaced people as much as possible. 
  • In Pekone Township of Southern Shan State, an alliance of Mobye revolution forces managed to gain control of Satawyar Hill, a strategic camp of the junta army, and 8 junta outposts within 5 days of 1111 Operation. 
  • In Kokang District of Northern Shan State, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army took control of another 4 junta outposts. So far, they have done so to 152 junta camps. 
  • The Three Brotherhood of the Northern Alliance announced that Operation 1027, which got started in Shan North, turned into the first stage of the national-level operation. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs objected to the decisions made at the meeting of the third committee in the United Nations General Assembly. 
  • The junta spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun said that they could guarantee the financial affairs and the public do not need to worry about it. 
  • In Pinlone Township, the shop owner of New Power Gas Station in Lwetat Village was arrested by the military junta for sending weapons to Karenni State on the night of Thursday. 
  • In the east and south of Shan State, 286 people were arrested in early November. Reportedly, they were there to conduct telecom fraud and online gambling. 
  • In Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, the junta delegation of healthcare professionals joined the annual conference and related meetings of Malaysia Physicians’ College. 

Summary on 19 November 

  • After the KNU announced that they would raise the military momentum, there have been battles all across Bago Region. Reportedly, the junta armed forces have responded with heavy fighting via fighter jets and helicopters. 
  • It was announced that Operation 1027 had changed into the first stage of a nationwide operation. Consequently, there might be heavier fighting throughout the country.
