Spring Revolution Daily News for 2 December 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, Local Public’s Administration and Local Defence Forces inspected the sub-power station. 
  • On Thursday, the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration conducted a meeting. 
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and District People’s Administration. 
  • On Thursday, the Committee on Alliance Relations-NUG met with Kachin Political Interim Coordination Team. 
  • The Interim Central Bank announced that they had kept over 44,000 million MMK from private banks in Kawlin under control of the NUG. 

Revolution Activities 

  • According to Fortify Rights on Thursday, the Attorney General of Germany decided not to investigate the criminal charge against Myanmar’s junta army generals. 
  • In Sagaing Region, Kalay Township Public’s Administration announced that the streets on entrance to the town in the northern and southern areas had been temporarily blocked off. 
  • In the west of Minkin Township, local PDFs attacked the main camp of the junta soldiers and militia members at about 4:00 am on 27 November. 
  • In Tamu Township, an event was conducted in commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 28 November. 
  • In Yinmabin, PDFs attacked the junta’s General Administration Department and the junta’s Forestry Department in town at about 8:00 pm Wednesday. 
  • In Butalin, there were the bomb attacks via drone on the junta armed forces stationed at the junta police station and CB Bank. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and 5 others were injured. 
  • In Khin-U Township, local people and students welcomed Operation 1027 and Operation 1127 with Eugenia flowers in a village on Friday morning. 
  • In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, a local PDF attacked with 3 mines the junta army stationed at No. (3) Basic Education High School. 
  • In Thingangyun Township, U Than Tun, the Chair of New National Democratic Party who had called for the arrest of anti-junta people, was shot at his house. 
  • In Kayin State, there have been attacks on the junta army camps on Myawaddy-Kawkarait Asia Road. Reportedly, there has been heavy fighting between the junta army and the revolution forces starting on the night of Thursday. 
  • In Ngazun Township of Mandalay Region, U Thet Khine, the junta administrator of Moetaung Village Tract, was shot dead at about 7:00 am Thursday. 
  • In Chauk of Magwe Region, there was a warning attack via grenade on the house belonging to an officer of the junta’s Municipal Department. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Muse Township of Northern Shan State, Ta’ang National Liberation Army cleared off and seized the junta’s Nampaw Camp at about 5:00 am Friday. Reportedly, they confiscated heavy weapons and caught two prisoners of war. 
  • Over the period of more than a month in Operation 1027, the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance seized 5 major towns and 4 gates on China-Myanmar border. 
  • In Konegyan of Northern Shan State, 272 soldiers from the junta army Ka-La-Ya (125) raised the white flag and gave up arms. 
  • In Matupi District of Chin State, over 60 buildings were damaged in an air strike of the junta army in the battle to seize Yeswa Town. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that there was trade deficit as the import exceeded the export. He also said that the export was just a little, not because of the needs of the country, but because of lack of labour. 
  • In Karenni State, there was an explosion at the junta army Ka-La-Ya (54) based in Loikaw on Friday afternoon. Reportedly, the camp was on fire. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Economics and Commerce, the trade deficit has been up to 1.4 billion USD in Myanmar’s trade in 8 months of the current fiscal year. 
  • The junta spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun stated that the military exercise would be started with Chinese war ships in Yangon on Friday. 
  • According to the junta’s Aungbale Lottery Department, the sale in November decreased by over 500 million MMK compared to that in October. 
  • According to the junta’s Fuel Oil Enterprise Association, fuel oil would no longer be sold to industrial zones under the national scheme and the business people would have to import using their own plan. 

Summary on 2 December 

  • The junta army camps have been seized on a daily basis. In addition, more and more junta soldiers have given up arms and run away from the junta army. In other words, they have been disorganized. The junta leader himself had to admit that they had been attacked with too much force. 
  • The prices of fuel oil sold by the military junta have gone up due to changes in the price of USD. Moreover, it would no longer be sold to industrial zones under the national scheme. Consequently, there might be general hardships including shortage of fuel oil and high cost of living.
