The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In their congratulatory statement on International Labor Day, the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children- NUG announced that they would continue to join hands with the Ministry of Labor- NUG for social security and equality of workers, healthcare for pregnant women and justice for sexual harassment at the workplace.
  • In their statement on Workers’ Day, the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) paid tribute to local and international workers who have been taking part in the Spring Revolution.
  • At 10:00 am Sunday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and the Township People’s Administration from Taninthayi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs- NUG announced that their Deputy Minister U Moe Zaw Oo had met with Mr. Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Vice-Chair of the Elders.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Sagaing Township in Sagaing Region, local PDFs conducted an attack with shells at Nyaungbinwun Police Station.
  • In Kalay Township, the People’s Administration announced on 20 April that local business people are to pay taxes.
  • On Monday, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Ye-U Township, the junta armed forces set fire to Segyi Village and Pauktha Village. Reportedly, a local woman was hit with a bullet shot by the junta soldiers.
  • In Monywa, PDFs attacked the junta armed forces stationed at the vehicle registration office and the agricultural office. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.
  • In Sagaing Township, the junta army arrested and killed 7 people from Ywama Village. They also set fire to Taeainte Village.
  • In Sagaing Region, the S&C built 700 houses for fire victims.
  • In Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region, there was a grenade attack on the junta Myoma police station on Monday.
  • In Oatpho Township of Bago Region, the junta army arrested 10 civilians after an attack on the Myoma Police Station.
  • In Yesagyo of Magwe Region, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy of 3 military trucks. Reportedly, no less than 2 junta soldiers died and many others might have been injured.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, the Democratic Movement Committee provided food to over 250 displaced households from Outgyawut Village.
  • The Special Envoy of the United Nations Human Rights to Myanmar called for serious action against Myanmar’s junta army via the G7 Summit which will be held in Japan in May.
  • According to the organisers, they will support the PDFs with the funds earned from the revolutionary Thingyan event in Maryland State of the US on 29 April.
  • On Sunday, Taiwan Alliance for Myanmar showed ‘Rays of Hope’ by Director Ko Pauk in Taiwan.
  • In Bangkok, Thailand, the Blood Alliance showed ‘the UG’ movie at ABC World Department Store to raise funds for war victims.
  • On 133rd International Workers’ Day, the Building and Wood Federation of Myanmar protested against the military dictatorship, with signs- "United Voice for Workers, Fighting for Federal Future".
  • On International Workers’ Day, the Federation of General Workers Myanmar led an online campaign themed ‘Towards secure income, decent workplace and federal democracy’.
  • In Mawgyun Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the revolutionary forces attacked Myattha Police Station with 340mm grenades.
  • In Beelin Township in Mon State, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army on secret patrol in rubber plantations.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to the PKPF the military junta has conducted 363 air attacks in Karenni State from 1 February 2021 to the end of April 2023, including 179 ones in the first four months of this year.
  • In Hakha Township in Chin State, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and CDF in Chungyone Village. Reportedly, a member of the Chin National Army died and two others got injured.
  • In Thatone District under Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (1), there was a battle between the junta army and the combined forces in Alule Village.

The Military Council

  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its support for the Global Security Initiative by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
  • According to the military office in Nay Pyi Taw, Qin Gang, the Foreign Minister of China, would come to Myanmar in a few days.
  • In the statement on International Workers’ Day, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that labour diplomats were appointed in Thailand, Malaysia and Korea, and Myanmar Embassies in other countries have been giving protection.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they rescued a Myanmar woman trapped in the war zone of Sudan and arranged for her to return to her workplace in Dubai.
  • According to the junta Transportation Department, only about 10,000 electric vehicles would be issued Yangon license every year.

Summary on 2 May

  • At the time of heavy defensive war, there have been frequent meetings between China and Myanmar’s dictators. The military junta have been buttering up China.
  • Upcountry, the junta armed forces have been burning villages and killing people. However, they have lost control of the areas and local PDFs have been in positions to conduct attacks in towns anytime.
