The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 7:00 pm Friday, Dr. Ngein Tan Maung, who had been appointed as Deputy Minister of Humanitarian Assistance and Natural Risks Management-NUG, took the oath before the Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH).
  • On Friday, there was a graduation of the interim self-help school in Dimawso Township. Reportedly, present on the occasion were the Local Education Board, Kayar State Basic Education Teachers’ Union and invited guests.
  • In the speech at the United Nations General Assembly, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, called on the UN and international community to take immediate action against the military junta who had conducted an air strike on a school in Letyatgone Village of Dibeyin Township in Sagaing Region.

Revolution Activities

  • In Sagaing Region, PDFs attacked a convoy of 3 military trucks coming out from Wang Bao Company. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.
  • In Chindwin River, local PDFs conducted an attack on a fleet of junta vessels.
  • In Shwebo, Black Wolf-PDF carried out a mine attack on the township electricity office in Ward (3) in the early morning.
  • In Taze Township, the junta army set fire to Tasekyel Village on 22 September. Reportedly, 35 houses were burnt down.
  • In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, PDF members took away 7 guns from the house of the administrator of Pyawbwe Village. Reportedly, the junta army beat and investigated nearly 500 local people.
  • In Hpakant of Kachin State, local people showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG on Saturday. They also protested against the military dictatorship.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Phapun District under the control of Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (5), Karen National Liberation Army-KNLA attacked the two frontline camps of the junta army. According to Mutraw Newsletter, a junta soldier died and two others were injured.
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, there were battles for 3 consecutive days between the junta army and VENOM near Wamita Village. Reportedly, nearly 20 junta soldiers died.
  • In Kutkhine Township of Shan State, there was a clash between the Kachin Independence Army-KIA and the junta army at about 10:00 am Saturday.

The Military Council

  • On Thursday, there was a meeting of the junta Working Committee established to watch any activities of the United Nations organizations based in Myanmar and other international non-governmental organizations-INGOs.
  • The military junta announced that Shwe Phi Oo Instant Tea-Mix, one of their products, got Best Practices Award by the ASEAN Occupational Health and Safety Network.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that they would take serious action against those who had opened fire on a passenger flight at Loikaw Airport.
  • The military junta filed an additional charge under Section 50 (J) of anti-terrorism law against Journalist Ma Hmoo Yadanar Khat Mo Mo Tun, who had been arrested in a violent crackdown on a protest on Panbingyi Road in Kyimyindine Township.
  • The military junta falsely claimed that PDFs had taken away the abbot of Chaungsone Village Monastery in Salin Township of Magwe Region.
  • Dr. Htar Htar Linn, Director of Public Health Department, was sentenced to another 4 years in prison under 3 charges on Thursday.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Labour, they have been arranging to set a fixed amount of monthly remittance of Myanmar workers abroad.

Summary on 1 October

  • The military junta has been arranging to put restrictions on international organizations including UN ones. Reportedly, they would monitor their financial flow and activities. Consequently, those working for such organizations might be arrested under any charges anytime.
  • Despite no protests due to the oppression and arrests all over the country, there were regular ones in the areas under the influence of PDFs. In big cities like Yangon and Mandalay, there were guerrilla protests whenever possible.
  • In Kayin State, there were heavy battles throughout the area. Reportedly, the junta army faced a great loss there. Giving an excuse of an attack on a commercial flight in Karenni State, the military junta intended to use a large number of the junta armed forces.
