The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 1:00 pm Tuesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and the Township People’s Administration from Yangon Region.
  • According to reliable sources, a parcel for State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi had to be sent to Nay Pyi Taw Prison on Tuesday morning.
  • The Ministry of Defence- NUG announced that there had been an attack on No. (21) Military Item Factory based in Gazunma Village of Seik Phyu Township in Magwe Region on 16 April.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, 7 young people were arrested on the eve of Thingyan on 13 April. So far, they have been out of touch with their families.
  • In Madayar, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta Military Security Office and Construction Office.
  • On Wednesday, the revolutionary forces conducted an anti-junta urban movement on crowded roads in Yangon and Mandalay.
  • In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been invading local villages until Wednesday morning. Consequently, tens of thousands of villagers have had to run away.
  • In Butalin Township, the junta soldiers destroyed the houses of PDF members in Kyauk Yeoh Northern Village. They also took away the public’s belongings including cars.
  • In Myinmu, there were attacks via mortars on the junta armed forces stationed in town.
  • In Taninthayi Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta army has been strengthening its forces although there have been no battles in The Phyu Village recently.
  • In Longlone Township, the PDF raided an armed drug gang and confiscated some weapons together with WY tablets.
  • After the junta’s massacre in a village of Sagaing Region on 11 April, Amnesty International (AI) called on the international community to stop the import of aviation oil to the military junta in Myanmar.
  • At about 10:00 pm Tuesday, a combined force of PDFs attacked with heavy artillery at the junta police station in Salingyi.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta army raided Magyikan Village on Tuesday and killed no less than 10 young people who had been receiving medical treatment. They also arrested more than 30 villagers tp use as hostages.
  • In Thanphyu Zayat Township of Mon State, there was a bomb explosion on the road in the middle of Panga Village. Reportedly, the junta army arrested two young suspects and shot them dead.
  • The foreign ministers of the G7 called on the military junta to stop all violent activities in Myanmar.
  • Regarding the junta’s aerial attack on Pazigyi Village killing nearly 200 people, Pope Francis wished peace for Myanmar.
  • According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), 3,408 people have lost their lives due to the junta armed forces until 18 April.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the east of Dimawso Township in Karenni State, a large number of weapons were confiscated from the junta army in local battles, according to the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP).
  • On Tuesday night, General Saw Mu Tu Say Poe, Chair of the Karen National Union (KNU), lost consciousness due to high blood pressure. Reportedly, he has been receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Mae Sot in Thailand.

The Military Council

  • Russia, which has faced sanctions due to its invasion of Ukraine, has been importing oil to China via the pipeline located in Kyauk Phyu in Rakhine State in the western part of Myanmar.
  • On the evening of 17 April, the President of Vietnam met with the ASEAN Ambassadors at the Presidential Residence. Reportedly, present on the occasion was Kyaw Soe Win, the junta Ambassador to Vietnam.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Information, the Film Academy Award Ceremony will be held at the open theatre near Nay Pyi Taw Cityhall on 6 May.
  • The junta propaganda team announced that a large number of weapons had been confiscated in Magyikan Village and Kangyi Village of Myaing Township in Magwe Region.
