The National Unity Government (NUG)

 

  • In the ceremony on the 75th Martyrs’ Day, the NUG Acting President urged the public to nurture brave hearts to liberate them from the slavery of the military junta while paying tribute to General Aung San and other martyrs.
  • On the 75th Martyrs’ Day, the NUG Union Prime Minister made a commitment that together with the public, the NUG would fight against the military dictatorship until the victory of Spring Revolution.
  • On the 75th Martyrs’ Day, the Chair of the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) said that they would make an effort to uproot the military dictatorship and build a peaceful, prosperous federal democratic union as soon as possible.
  • In a statement for the 75th Martyrs’ Day, the CRPH called for unity, the victory of the federal union from the Spring Revolution, based on the path taken by martyrs and national leaders.
  • In Kayin State, members of the Southern Regional PDF Unit (1) paid tribute to General Aung San and other martyrs as well as those who had lost their lives in the fight for federal democracy.
  • In Kayin State, the White Tiger Force Unit (2) conducted an event on the 75th Martyrs’ Day and paid tribute to nine martyrs as well as all of those who had sacrificed their lives throughout the history of fights for democracy, including the Spring Revolution.
  • In Thanintharyi Region, Myeik District PDF Brigade (2) organized an event in commemoration of the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Yebyu Township, a local PDF conducted an event somewhere in the forest to commemorate the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Pulaw Township, local PDF members held an event at their camp on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Tamu Township in Sagaing Region, PDF Unit (2) protested against the military dictatorship on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In a village in Yinmabin Township, the students paid tribute to the martyrs and took part in a NUG Ministry of Education essay contest to commemorate the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Pekone Township in Shan State, PDF Brigade (2) announced that 12 of their members who had been killed were recorded as martyrs.
  • According to the Permanent Secretary of the NUG Ministry of Defence, it will investigate the case in which PDF members beat some people in Ngatingyi Village in Shwebo Township in recent months. As for the PDF, they responded that they had done so to caution those who would buy remains on the burnt land.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Yangon, youths marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, raising banners saying ‘Fight the ethnocentrism’ and ‘There are more than nine martyrs’.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, the junta army shot dead two men on a motorbike at the base of Shwelinban Bridge at 11:00 p.m. Monday, saying that the men did not stop for an inspection.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, a combined rally of basic education students’ unions carried out an anti-junta protest at a school by putting up a banner that said ‘Fight the ethnocentrism. There are more than nine martyrs’.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, students expressed their desire against the military dictatorship near Thaunggyi Police Station by spraying red paint and spreading roses.
  • On the 75th Martyrs’ Day, students and youth in Thaketa Township conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday, there was a grenade attack on a MyTel telecom tower owned by the junta army in Thaketa Township. Reportedly, a military convoy was also attacked with a time bomb whilst it was en route to inspect the incident.
  • Amidst tight security measures, the Burmese Youth Network painted the words ‘Martyrs never die’ near Hledan Bridge.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, junta-appointed administrator Kyaw Soe Tun and hundred-household leader Pho Htoo were shot dead at about 9:00 p.m. on Monday.
  • In Bago Region, female students from Bago University conducted an online strike, wearing black for the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • Somewhere in Bago, activists conducted a demo9nstration for the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In commemoration of the 75th Martyrs’ Day, Latbadan Township Students’ Union protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, a powerful rally marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally by Shwe Nwe Aye marched against the military dictatorship, raising a banner- ‘Martyrs never die’.
  • On the 75th Martyrs’ Day, West Chindwin Strike Committee conducted an event to pay tribute to the martyrs and marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Kani Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship to commemorate the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Khin-U Township, students, parents and PDFs paid tribute to the martyrs at a school under the guidance of the NUG.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of Shwe Kun Myay marched against the military dictatorship on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Salingyi Township, a combined rally of local people conducted an event in commemoration of the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Butalin Township, there was a rally against the military dictatorship for Martyrs’ Day.
  • On the 75th Martyrs’ Day, Kalay General Strike protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myaung Township, thousands of local people and PDFs laid wreaths for Martyrs’ Day and marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • On the 75th Martyrs’ Day, Yelegyun PDF and local people paid tribute to the martyrs.
  • To commemorate the 75th Martyrs’ Day, Daung Nyinaung PDF expressed their feelings against the military dictatorship.
  • In the Letpadaung Taung Area, farmers conducted an event to commemorate the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • On Tuesday, the Chaung-U Township PDF announced that they had closed the Monywa to ChaungU road section for security reasons.
  • In Monywa, youths expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Monywa Township, the local PDF Unit (4) conducted a bomb attack on the junta army in charge of security at the Kambawza Bank on Monday evening.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, women, LGBTs, basic education students and youths marched against the military dictatorship on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Yebyu Township, a combined rally of young people expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, the General Strike Committee led an anti-junta march in memory of the nine martyrs killed on the original Martyr's day in 1947, as well as those who had lost their lives in the Spring Revolution.
  • In Meittila Township in Mandalay Region, Yaylegyun PDF conducted an event to commemorate the 75th Martyrs’ Day in front of a tomb of a member who had sacrificed his life for the Spring Revolution.
  • In Tilin Township in Magwe Region, Yaw PDF members paid tribute to all the martyrs in a liberated area.
  • Southern Gantgaw PDF honoured all the martyrs including General Aung San and those who had lost their lives in the fights for federal democracy.
  • In Yesagyo Township, a military truck was attacked with mines by a local PDF at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
  • In the Longshay Area of Saw Township, there was fighting between the junta army and PDF on Monday afternoon. Reportedly, about seven junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Pathein Prison in Ayeyarwaddy Region, political prisoners paid tribute to the martyrs on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • On Tuesday morning, there was a mine explosion at the gate of the junta air force in Naypyitaw.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, local people protested against the military dictatorship in memory of the martyrs and all of those who had sacrificed their lives in fights for federal democracy including the Spring Revolution.
  • In Hopone in Shan south, youth conducted an indoor strike against the military dictatorship on the 75th Martyrs’ Day.
  • Somewhere in a liberated area, Mawlamyein Technology University Students’ Union conducted an event to commemorate the 75th Martyrs’ Day.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Maungdaw Township of Rakhine State, there was fighting between the junta army and the Arakan Army (AA) on Monday. Reportedly, the border guard police force was attacked with mines on its way to support junta soldiers. According to the AA, 14 police members, including an officer, were captured and many others died.
  • CDF Mindat announced that the public were not to use the Mindat to Matupi Road in Chin State starting from 19 July.
  • On Tuesday, Mindat Township Public Administration announced that staff appointed by the junta after the military coup and non-CDM staff had to resign by 15 August at the latest.
  • Somewhere in the forest, The All Burma Students' Democratic Front- ABSDF Unit (5) paid tribute to all the martyrs and those who had lost their lives in the Spring Revolution.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, there was heavy fighting between the junta armed forces and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) near Hsezin Village. According to 74 Media, the junta army conducted an air strike at about 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.
  • At about 4:00 a.m. Monday, the Shaduzut-based people’s army under the military junta attacked a KIA camp. Reportedly, two KIA members lost their lives.
  • According to Venom Commando Force, they will join up with Kawthoolei Army led by General Nedarmya in the fight to uproot the military dictatorship.

The Military Council

  • On Tuesday morning, there was a ceremony at the mausoleum in Yangon on the 75th Martyrs’ Day. It was attended by a delegation led by the second junta leader Soe Win.
  • At the junta ceremony on the 75th Martyrs’ Day, family members of only seven martyrs were present. For General Aung San and U Ba Win, a member of the event organising committee laid wreaths.
  • In Bodataung Township in Yangon Region, there was a flag hoisting event at the Secretariat Office on the 75th Martyrs’ Day. Present on the occasion were the junta mayor and responsible personnel.
  • There were very few people at the junta ceremony in Yangon on Martyrs’ Day. Reportedly, the junta army brought some people in a yellow school bus and the junta propaganda team filmed them for a broadcast.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that they would not take legal action against the students of Kaung for You Education and their parents.
  • In a meeting on Monday, the Chair of the junta Central Bank said that it was necessary for banks to follow the guidance of the Central Bank to be successful in their operations.
  • After the junta instructions to control the flow of foreign currency, the price of the USD has been constantly rising. Reportedly, a dollar was worth more than 2400 MMK on the black market on Tuesday.
  • On Monday, there was an event at the Yangon Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in honor of those who will serve in the Myanmar Strategies and International Observation team from 2022 to 2026. Reportedly, the junta minister delivered a speech there.
  • On Monday, there was a ceremony welcoming house surgeons who had passed the final exam at the junta medical and dentistry universities. Reportedly, the junta Minister of Health also attended.
  • In Pulaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, the junta army shot mortars at Painetaung Village on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, a villager named Ko Zin Wine died on the spot.

Summary on 20 July

  • In the battle against the Arakan Army which has excellent military skills, the junta army had a great loss the other day. Reportedly, many junta soldiers were caught as well. Before the military coup, the junta armed forces would have attacked the area. However, they have been faced with fighting all over the country.
  • On the 75th Martyrs’ Day, there were many protests against the military dictatorship throughout the country. Even in areas with tight security measures, local people protested and non-violent activities gained momentum.
  • Due to the monetary controls of the junta Central Bank, the price of the U.S. dollar and gold sharply increased in the local market. According to business people, it is too too hard to trade.
