The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG, in cooperation with Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), conducted the 76th Martyrs’ Day on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, the Acting President of the NUG, the Chair of the CRPH and a representative from the National Unity Consultative Council delivered remarks of memory.
  • On the 76th Martyrs’ Day, the CRPH sent a statement, calling for the adoption of the political policies of the martyrs and the march to a federal democratic union through the strength based on the truth.
  • The National League for Democracy (NLD) sent a statement to the 76th Martyrs’ Day. They vowed that they would strive for the destination of a federal democratic union while promoting political legitimacy and the fulfillment of the aspirations held by the martyrs.
  • On Tuesday, the NUG held its 24th meeting. Reportedly, the Acting President stated that it was not possible to underestimate the role of the labour force in the public’s revolution and they must strive for the participation of those from all walks of life in the Spring Revolution.
  • The Union Prime Minister of the NUG claimed that PDFs, LDFs and People’s Administrations need to be united as the military junta might use various ways to divide among them as their short-term escape.
  • In the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday, Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun claimed that the International Criminal Court needs to take action in a timely manner to save Myanmar people who have lost lives due to the military junta on a daily basis.
  • Karenni State Interim Administration Council sent a statement to the 76th Martyrs’ Day. They stated that through blood, sweat and tears, they had been fighting for the final destination of a federal democratic union in the very near future.
  • According to the Fire Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG, a Fire Security Force was set up in Butalin Township in Sagaing Region.
  • On Wednesday, Katha Township People’s Administration conducted the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • No. (26) Shwebo District PDF held an event in salute of the 76th Martyrs’ Day on Wednesday.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence- NUG, East Yoma PDF conducted an event on the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • No. (1) Magwe District PDF conducted a salute event on the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • No. (4) Monywa District PDF conducted an event on the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • The Ministry of Defence- NUG released photos of No. (1005) Shan South PDF holding an event on 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • Under Pyi District PDF (3602), Zawgyi Column conducted a salute event in commemoration of the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • The comrades from Red Dragon Column from Southern Military Region conducted a salute on the 76th Martyrs’ Day on Wednesday.
  • On the 76th Martyrs’ Day, No. (6) Kalay District PDF carried out an event.
  • Tharyarwady District PDF (3801) conducted an event on the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • The members of Hpakant PDF (6) led a salute event on the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Magwe Region, Gantgaw District PDF (19) carried out a salute on the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • At the headquarters of Yesagyo Township PDF, there was a salute event to the martyrs including General Aung San.
  • In Saw Township, there were attacks via mine and rockets on a junta convoy on their way from Longshay Area to Kyindway on 16 July. Reportedly, no less than 80 junta soldiers died whereas 5 PDF members lost their lives.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Monywa of Sagaing Region, a Local Youth Association hung a banner saying: ’We’ll never forget 19 July’ at the clock tower.
  • In commemoration of the 76th Martyrs’ Day, the Moywa Strike Committee conducted an anti-junta protest, raising a banner that said ‘Martyrs never die’.
  • On the morning of Wednesday, a rally of Yinmabin North led a march against the military dictatorship.
  • In Kani Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta soldiers and Pyusawti members in Alegyun Village at about 11:00 am Wednesday.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was an attack on the junta army stationed in Hanlin Ancient City at about 5:00 am on 17 July. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died, 20 Pyusawti members got injured and some others were caught alive.
  • In Kawlin Township, the junta armed forces stationed in the administration department and the junta police station indefinitely fired mortars at 9:30 pm on 16 July. Reportedly, the weapons went off in Karagone Village, injuring 3 people.
  • In Monywa Township, there was a mine attack on Pyusawti members from Tawpu Village who were shopping on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, two of them died.
  • In Htigyaint Township, the junta army set fire to over 200 houses in Kyaukhmaw Village. They then raided the village again at about 7:00 am Wednesday and arrested some local people.
  • At about 9:00 am Wednesday, there was an attack via two rockets on the junta army stationed in Kyaukyit Village of Myaung Township.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, there was a mine attack on the junta army at about 7:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died whereas a PDF member lost their life.
  • In Madayar Township, the junta soldiers ruthlessly killed four local people and discarded their bodies in the river on 15 July.
  • In Mandalay Region, a combined force of local PDFs from Bagan Area conducted an event on the 76th Martyrs Day.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, some youths hung a banner saying: ‘Martyrs never die’ in commemoration of the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • On behalf of the fire victims from the upcountry region, the S&C in Yangon protested against the military dictatorship on Martyrs’ Day.
  • In the middle of Yangon, an alliance of the Octopus Group conducted a night strike march on Tuesday night.
  • In Kyaukdagar Township of Bago Region, local PDFs blew up the old exit road and the railroad at about 9:30 pm Tuesday. They did so to cut off a support route of the junta army.
  • In Phyuu Township, there was a bomb attack on junta soldiers making inspection near Phayalaha Village on Monday afternoon. Reportedly, two of them including an officer died.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, Dawei District democratic Movement Committee led a march against the military dictatorship on the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, a junta vessel sank in Dawei River. Afterwards, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy on its way to collect the dead bodies of drowned soldiers on Tuesday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died in the attack.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a combined rally of gem mine workers marched against the military dictatorship in commemoration of the 76th Martyrs’ Day on Wednesday. They saluted the 9 Martyrs and those who had sacrificed their lives in the Spring Revolution.
  • In Kepong of Malaysia, the NLD OC International Malaysia Office conducted an event in honour of the 76th Martyrs’ Day.
  • We will Win and a PDF conducted a project named Kaingnara targeting 2,500 lakh MMK of donations. Reportedly, they earned 1400 lakh MMK within just 14 days.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, the junta army invaded the area near Mount Latket at about 7:00 am Tuesday, firing mortars. According to Cobra Column, there was a heavy battle, killing a junta captain along with the confiscation of a gun and some ammunition.
  • In Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State, there was another battle between the junta army based in Yardo Area and a combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army + PDF on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, the military junta conducted an aerial bomb attack.
  • On the 76th Martyrs’ Day, Karenni State People’s Liberation Front (KSPLF) sent a statement, making a vow to the martyrs and the oppressed people that they would completely eradicate the military junta, the military dictatorship, the military government and the 2008 Constitution.
  • The KNDF Battalion 02 warned that Loikaw-Mobye Road and Loikaw-Hsisai Road would be temporarily closed as there had been military tension between the junta army and the revolutionary forces.
  • Mon State Federal Council sent a statement to the 76th Martyrs’ Day, claiming that they would fight along with the public until the downfall of the military dictatorship.

The Military Council

  • Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in detention was not allowed to join the event on the 76th Martyrs’ Day. Instead, U Aung San Oo, the eldest son of General Aung San, was present on the occasion.
  • The junta Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transportation joined the junta event on the 76th Martyrs’ Day. Reportedly, the military junta reduced the level of representation.
  • On the 76th Martyrs’ Day, the military junta instructed the salute of at least 50 people from each township and the fire departments to sound the siren.
  • On Tuesday, the junta Union Supreme Court had a hearing related to the 7 charges including the natural disaster case against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and President U Win Myint.
  • The military junta interrogated 6 junta army officers including Chief Military Officer of North Military Headquarters and a gems trader from Kachin State.
  • In South Okkalapa Township of Yangon, the Chief of a local police station Linn Linn Tun was shot by a policeman named Arkar Soe. Reportedly, the junta police officer was seriously injured and he has been in critical condition.
  • For the victims of the Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar, the SCG Company, Thai Red-Cross Association and Ayudhya Bank donated relief items.

Summary on 20 July

  • The military junta did not allow the presence of the daughter of General Aung San at their ceremony and they just sent low-level representation. In other words, they reduced the level of celebration for Martyrs’ Day.
  • In Kayin State, there have been heavy battles daily between the junta armed forces and a combined force of the KNLA+PDF. Reportedly, the military junta has lost officers and weapons there.
