The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 1:00 pm on Wednesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and the Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Patheingyi Township in Mandalay Region, 3 junta soldiers were shot at the market in Myakantha Village at about 7:00 am on Thursday. Reportedly, one of them died and two others were seriously injured.
  • There were attacks on the junta armed forces at Myawaddy Bank in Pyigyi Dagun Township and in Katkyaw Ward of Amarapura Township.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township, there was a mine attack on two cars carrying injured soldiers on their way from Dagaung Hospital to Seven Mile Hospital. Reportedly, over 10 junta soldiers died and many others were seriously injured.
  • In the east of Shweku Township in Kachin State, the junta army invaded the area for 19 days starting on 23 March. Reportedly, they burnt around 1,000 houses.
  • In Taninthayi Township of Taninthayi Region, the IDPs from 9 local villages have been in need of food, shelter and medicine.
  • In Taninthayi Township, the junta army shot mortars into Lethit Village for no apparent reason. Consequently, more than 2,000 villagers had to run away.
  • In Thegone Township of Bago Region, Zay Yar Aung, a junta policeman on duty in Byamain Village Tract, was shot dead as a part of the Nan Htike Aung Operation.
  • According to the Basic Education General Strike Committee, the revolutionary Thingyan was held at public schools on the ground in 9 townships.
  • In Kalay of Sagaing Region, the junta army demolished the house of a protester.
  • In the west of Khin-U Township, the junta army has been invading the area since Wednesday morning. Consequently, about 9,000 people have had to run away.
  • On Thursday afternoon, the junta army conducted three more airstrikes on Pazigyi Village in Kantbalu Township.
  • In Khin-U Township, an old woman aged 83 lost her life while running away from battles.
  • Starting from 4:30 pm Wednesday, a troop of 150 junta soldiers carried out an invasion into Pazigyi Village. Reportedly, about 5,000 residents of 7 local villages had to run away.
  • According to the United Nation's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance on Wednesday, the number of fatalities of Myanmar civilians has been on the rise, and so has the number of people who have had to flee their homes.
  • In Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, Myanmar’s junta army conducted aerial bombing via fighter jets near Mekane Village on Thursday afternoon. On the other hand, Thai Army flew fighter aircrafts on the border of Maesot and Myawaddy.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, local people marched on Thursday for the KIA, PDF and NUG. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • The Thunder Guerrilla Force, led by the CDM military officers and police officers completed their training. Reportedly, they will establish 4 military regions to fight against the military dictatorship.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the battle on the border of Dimawso Township and Bawlake Township in Karenni State, 8 junta soldiers died, another one was caught alive and 6 weapons were confiscated.
  • In Mindat Township in Chin State, the junta armed forces have been fighting in local villages deliberately. Reportedly, local CDF announced that they would award a piece of land worth
  • 500 lakh MMK to any force which can punish military officer Ye Zaw Naing, two pilots and their associates.
  • In Phapun District under the Karen National Union (KNU), 4 junta soldiers, together with weapons, defected to the KNLA somewhere on the frontline in the area of Brigade (5).
  • General Saw Mutu Say Poe, Chair of the KNU, lost consciousness due to hypertension. Reportedly, he is back home.

The Military Council

  • The junta Minister of Electricity said that they would carry out activities for the full supply of power in 2025.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health, the number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased a little in recent days. Reportedly, a total of 39 patients were found.
  • The junta’s Myanmar Consulate in Chiang Mai announced that recommendation letters from the police station and ward must be submitted to extend Visit Passports and Education passports.
  • For, Myanmar is to submit a response to the charge of genocide against the Rohingya people in the next week. Regarding it, the military junta asked for an extension of the deadline. However, the International Court of Justice rejected the request.
  • Companies that would like to import and manufacture electric vehicles in the country, must submit a proposal.

Summary on 21 April

  • Since the coup, 1,500,000 people have had to leave their homes due to violent activities of the junta armed forces all over the country. According to the UNOCHA, the total would be 1.8 million if the IDPs before the coup were included. As the military junta might continue to kill the public to grasp power, the IDPs might increase as well.
  • In the upcountry region, there have been battles on a daily basis. As the junta armed forces have had great losses in guerrilla attacks by the revolutionary forces, they just go on burning villages and killing people. Consequently, local residents have had to run away and they have been in need of food and water.
