The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In the speech to mark the 75th Chin National Day, the NUG Acting President called on the Chin people, who started to fight with Tumi guns against the military junta, to continue their leadership in the Spring Revolution.
  • On Monday, the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) organized an online event in commemoration of the 75th Chin National Day. Present on the occasion was the NUG Acting President and he delivered a speech.
  • In the statement on the 75th anniversary of Chin National Day, the NUG Ministry of Defence claimed that it would join hands to uproot the common enemy, the military dictatorship.
  • To commemorate the diamond anniversary of Chin National Day, the NUG sent a statement.
  • The NUG Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management announced that it had provided aid worth of over 500 million MMK in January.
  • According to the NUG Early Partnership Program, a businessman bought one of their gem mines worth 4 million USD in Mogok.
  • At 10:00 am on Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Local People’s Administrative Teams from Tanintharyi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.
  • In Washington D.C in the United States, Chin people and other ethnic people celebrated Chin National Day on Saturday. Reportedly, the Union Minister of Communication and Technology delivered a speech there.
  • In Tamu Township in Sagaing Region, year-end exams got started at the schools under the NUG on Monday.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Sagaing Region, PDFs attacked and took control of a small junta army camp on the border of Salingyi and Yinmabin at about 5:30 pm on Sunday. Reportedly, 10 junta soldiers died.
  • In Yinmabin North, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • On Monday, Taze Township General Strike marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta armed forces raided local villages on Monday, opening fire for no apparent reason. Reportedly, more than 4,000 local residents have had to flee.
  • In Dibeyin Township, a combined rally of local people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • In Shwebo, there was a grenade attack on the junta soldiers in a bunker in front of Myanmar’s Initiative Bank at 5:45 pm on Sunday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers were seriously injured.
  • In Yinmabin Township, PDFs conducted a surprise attack on the junta army near Nabudaw Village at about 10:30 am on Sunday.
  • In Dagon Myothit Seikkam Township in Yangon Region, the junta administration office of Ward (94) was attacked with small arms and grenades at about 3:30 pm on Sunday. Reportedly, two hundred-household leaders died, but the junta administrator and former soldier Khin Maung Zin escaped.
  • In Yetarshay Township in Bago Region, over 30 junta soldiers died in fighting on 16 February. Reportedly, among them was military officer Zayyar Tun from No. (2022) Air Defence Force.
  • In Thayet Township in Magwe Region, there was an attack on Hsinkaw Police Station at 5:00 am on Monday. Reportedly, four junta members including officers died and eight others were seriously injured.
  • In Yesagyo Township, the Young Fighter Guerrilla Force is in need of food and firearms. Reportedly, their leader called for the public to contribute.
  • In Saw Township, junta army troops were attacked with mines and mortars on 16 and 18 February. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among the junta soldiers.
  • In Myaing, Pakkoku and Pauk townships, there were eight battles within two days. According to local PDFs, there were casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Tadar-U Township in Mandalay Region, San Win, the junta administrator of Myengu Village, and Ba Pyone, allegedly a junta informant, were taken away by two junta soldiers at 7:30 pm Sunday. Reportedly, they were found dead with gunshot wounds.
  • In Ngathayauk of Nyaung-U Township, Naing Chaung, a local Pyu Saw Htee leader who had threatened to shoot PDF members, was shot dead at about 2:00 pm on Sunday.
  • In Mogok Township, a junta police officer dressed as a civilian was shot at 11:00 am on Sunday.
  • In Inkapu Township in Ayeyarwady Region, there was a bomb attack on the junta administration office in the southern part of Kwinkaut at 8:35 pm on Sunday as a part of Nan Htike Aung Operation.
  • In Tanintharyi Township in Tanintharyi Region, the junta army fired heavy artillery and raided Ashay Banlaw Village at about 7:00 am on Sunday. According to local people, their houses were destroyed and their valuables were taken away by junta soldiers.
  • The junta propaganda team announced that a child aged nine and a woman had lost their lives when members of an armed group fired at a car in Bokpyin Township on 17 February.
  • In Yay Township in Mon State, local PDFs raided the junta inspection gate at about 7:00 am on Sunday. Reportedly, no less than 15 junta soldiers died.
  • Director Na Gyi said that his movie- ‘It’s not over yet, our turn next’ will be shown in international cities.
  • Dancing with Ladies announced that they had earned up to $160,000 USD from their 4th project.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • On the border of Shan and Karenni states, a combined force of the Karenni Army attacked junta soldiers trying to transport rations on Sunday morning. Reportedly, 14 junta soldiers died, five others were caught alive. Ten weapons and ammunition were also confiscated.
  • The junta newspaper said that members of the Chin Defence Forces had defected to the junta in Matupi. But, CDF Matupi claimed that it was just baseless propoganda.
  • In Dupalya District under Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (6), the junta army carried out an aerial bombing on a village in the south of Kawkareik on Monday morning.

The Military Council

  • Under the leadership of Sitagu Sayardaw Ashin Nyanissara, a member of the military council U Maung Ko and the junta Information Minister U Maung Maung Ohn offered an umbrella to Sitagu Stupa in Htonebo Village in Pyin Oo Lwin Township on Sunday morning.
  • In a statement on the 75th Chin National Day, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing called on the public in Chin State to help with regional and socio-economic development activities.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, the import of petroleum products was over 4 billion USD of petroleum products were imported during the first ten months of the 2022-23 financial year.
  • The junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce stated that the export of industrial finished goods was worth over $9 billion USD for the first ten months of 2022-23 fiscal year.
  • Starting from Monday morning, No. (1) Tachilek-Mae Sai Friendship Bridge, which had been closed for about 3 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was reopened.
  • In Myebone Township in Rakhine State, the junta army in Kyungthaya test fired mortars on Monday morning.
  • According to the junta Department, small industrial businesses including traditional medicine shops in Yangon Region must be registered.

Summary on 21 February

  • In Karenni State, the revolutionary forces have been more powerful and they have made progress in their military skills and have even controlled junta armed forces in the area. The military junta may have to let go of Karenni State when the local defence forces are fully armed.
  • In Sagaing Region, there was heavy fighting when defence forces attacked junta army camps, police stations and junta troops. As for the military junta, it has suffered great losses in Sagaing Region.
