The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the Ministry of Defence- NUG on Wednesday, It had collected 1.98 million USD through the four programs of Dancing with Ladies.
  • The Union Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment- NUG claimed that buying junta bonds means getting involved in the junta’s violence against the public and thus, the tycoons and businesses must be held accountable for their purchase.
  • According to the Call of Yoma, the acrylic painting “Return of Salmons” by the 88 Generation student leader U Min Ko Naing was sold at auction for $6,300 USD.
  • On Wednesday, the Interim Central Bank- NUG appointed a Vice-Chair and two directors. They also set up the Board of Directors for the bank.
  • At 10:00 am Wednesday, there was a workshop on policy review between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and Township People’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration from Magwe Region and Mandalay Region.
  • The Ministry of Defence- NUG announced that 18 junta soldiers had died in local battles in Saw Township of Magwe Region from 14 to 17 July.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The younger son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi stated that the international governments should place more sanctions on Myanmar, especially to stop fuel oil reaching the military junta.
  • In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On Thursday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was a guerrilla attack on a junta troop between Nyaungkan Village and Takanthar Village at about 6:00 pm on 17 July. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers included a gazetted officer died.
  • In Myaung Township, there was an attack via rockets on Kyaukyit Police Station at about 9:00 am on Wednesday in commemoration of the Martyrs’ Day. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army shot mortars into local villages at about 8:00 am Thursday. Consequently, 2 local people lost their lives.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army fired mortars into Thetpay Village on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, a child was killed.
  • Local PDFs warned the public not to travel as there might be battles on the Shwebo-Mandalay Road Section anytime.
  • On Wednesday evening, there was a sonic mine attack on the junta soldiers taking security in front of Mandalay’s Yadanarbone University.
  • In Natoegyi Township of Mandalay Region, there were two bomb attacks via drone on the junta soldiers demanding money in Nanwindawbo Village on the evening of 16 July. Reportedly, two of them died.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, there was a bomb attack on Thayetkwa Village (Pyusawti Village) at about 10:00 am Wednesday.
  • In Yesagyo Township, there was an attack on the junta army camp in Hinthaywama at about 5:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 11 junta soldiers including 2 officers died.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, there was a mine attack on a military car on Myeik-Dawei Road Section on the afternoon of 17 July.
  • In Taninthayi Township, there were clashes for 5 consecutive days on Taninthayi-Mawtaung Road Section from 15 to 19 July. Reportedly, the junta army suffered great losses.
  • In Kyaukdagar Township of Bago Region, a group of junta police led by a sergeant was shot dead while they were at a KTV.
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, the junta army Regiment (310) based in Theinzayat took a civilian to their unit and killed him.
  • On Wednesday, the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners announced that the military junta had been sending letters informing families that the missing political prisoners from Kyaiksagaw Prison had died.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Kyaukdagar Township of Bago Region, the junta army raided Nanza Village at 6:00 am Thursday. According to a focal person of Karen National Liberation Army, the junta soldiers took away people’s belongings, burnt over 20 houses and arrested 17 people.
  • In Kanpetlet Township of Chin State, 19 junta soldiers died in local battles from 16 to 19 July. A local CDF called for the public to make contributions for weapons and rations.
  • In Malaysia, the PDO organized a fund-raising football match. They donated 14 lakh MMK to the Karenni Democratic Front.
  • The Chin National Front called on each Chin national and organization to avoid disturbing the politics of neighboring countries.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun, it will be decided at the meeting of the National Defence and Security Council whether the emergency will be extended beyond the end of July.
  • With less foreign income due to sanctions by the western community including the US, the military junta summoned business people involved with fuel oil supply for a meeting on 22 July.
  • The junta Minister of Health claimed that they had been making an effort for higher vaccine coverage for preventable diseases among children aged under 5.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, those who fail to extend their gem mining licences no less than one month before the expiration date will have their licences revoked.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Economics and Commerce, the border trade between Myanmar and Thailand was nearly 2000 million USD from 1 April to 7 July of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
  • According to the junta Customers’ Department, the confiscation of illegal goods was worth nearly 62 billion MMK from January to July 2023.
  • Myanma Agricultural Development Bank stated that 50 billion MMK was allocated as the capital money to upgrade oil mills for the development of the local edible oil sector.
  • There was a mine explosion on the Yangon-Mandalay Railroad on the night of 18 July. The military junta announced that about 1500 passengers had faced delays.
