The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • On Thursday morning, a meeting of the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration was conducted. Reportedly, the Chair of the Committee and the Union Prime Minister stated that logistics played a vital role in the revolution and there must be activities for food security. 
  • On Wednesday, there was an online meeting between Committee on Security and Defence under the Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG. Reportedly, they discussed the rule of law at the grassroots level. 
  • Union Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG sent a statement of objection to Association of World Election Bodies (AWEB) for letting the junta’s delegation attend their 5th General Assembly, which was conducted on 19 October. 
  • In the meeting with Union Minister of Federal Affairs-NUG, Education Mayor of Seoul in South Korea stated that they had been constantly and directly providing humanitarian assistance to displaced people in Myanmar and they had been seeking ways to support technological devices for the students and youth at IDP camps as soon as possible. 
  • In cooperation with the Revolution Media Network, the Department of Public’s Communication under Ministry of Defence-NUG released a newsletter entitled ‘Military Affairs for Spring Warriors’. 
  • On Friday, the Interim Chin National Consultative Council released a statement in regard to the case of two children aged 6 and 7 who had lost their lives due to junta armed forces action in Bonlone Village of Hakha Township of Chin State. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Friday. 
  • In Northern Yinmabin, a combined rally of three local villages marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday. 
  • In cooperation with Kalay University Students’ Union, Kalay General Strike carried out anti-junta public talks on Friday. 
  • At about 7:00 pm Thursday, local PDFs attacked the junta army near Myinmu. Reportedly, there were many casualties among the junta soldiers. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta army killed a local PDF leader and another comrade by cutting off their heads near Zeephyugone Village on Friday morning. 
  • In Banmauk Township, the junta army dropped bombs via fighter jet on the hospital in Manyugyi Village at about 4:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, a woman died and more than five children were seriously injured. 
  • In Katha Township, a fleet of the junta vessels fire ammunition wildly on local villages along the bank of Ayeyarwaddy River at about 6:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, 10 houses were damaged and a number of cattle were killed. 
  • In Taze Township, the junta army ill-treated a monk from Chaung-U Village on Tuesday and asked him where the PDFs were. Reportedly, the monk was seriously injured. 
  • In Hlaing Township of Yangon Region, there was a bomb attack on the junta KBZ Bank in front of Thiri Mingalar New Market on Friday evening. 
  • On DVB, there was an analysis of a CDM forensic doctor that those who had lost lives in the two bomb explosions at Insein Prison had died from gunshots, not because they had been hit with by the bomb explosions. 
  • Daw Kyi Myint, the mother of Ko James - a former member of Burmese Students’ Union, lost her life in the bomb explosions at the delivery department in Insein Prison. Reportedly, her funeral was conducted on Friday morning. 
  • In Hlaing Township of Yangon Region, there was a gunfire in Thiri Myaing Ward (13) on Thursday morning. Reportedly, the junta armed forces made an inspection around the vicinity on Friday. 
  • In Shwe Pyi Tha Township, there was an attack with mines and bombs on the junta army stationed in the junta department of social welfare on Thursday afternoon. 
  • In Nyaunglebin Township of Bago Region, a local guerrilla force attacked the junta army at the house of the administrator in Kaukkwe Village at about 8:00 pm Thursday. 
  • In Nyaunglebin Township, the administrator of Jaungda Village Group was shot dead near Inwine Village at 2:30 pm Thursday. 
  • In Shwetaung Township, a member of Basic Education Students’ Union was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the junta court under the anti-terrorism law. 
  • Despite the presence of junta armed forces in the Mandalay Region, a rally of Pyigyi Dagun continued their protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday night. 
  • In Myingyan Jail, political prisoners in footchains have been forced to do hard labour and they have been beaten for no apparent reason. 
  • At a school in Pakkoku Area in Magwe Region, a basic education students’ union was set up and the Executive Committee was democratically elected. The students then expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship. 
  • The spokesperson of the US Foreign Department called on international community to take serious action against the incident in which a school teacher had been ruthlessly killed in Magwe Region of Myanmar. 
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, youth with anti-junta signs marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Friday. 
  • In Thayetchaung Township, a man from Lower Thayetchaung Village, allegedly a Pyusawti, was shot dead at his house at about 10:00 pm Thursday. 
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, the junta armed forces arrested no less than 5 local business people on Thursday morning, accusing them of supporting the PDFs. 
  • In Paletwa Township of Chin State, the interim education board was set up. Reportedly, they managed to open 60 community-based schools locally and 9 schools for displaced students in Mizoram State of India. 
  • On Thursday, People Soldiers’ Team announced that they would repair the defected guns and mortars of ethnic armed organizations, and support revolution forces. 
  • the UN Refugee Agency-UNHCR released a statement of emergency, calling on regional countries not to send back the war refugees from Myanmar to the military junta. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • Starting from 7:00 am Friday, a combined force of KNLA began their fighting to take control of Kawkareik in Kayin State. 
  • In Kawkareik Township of Kayin State, there has been fighting for the town. According to Albino Tiger Battalion-1, they opened the detention centre of the local police station and released the prisoners. 
  • In the battle to gain control of Kawkareik on Friday, 3 civilians lost their lives and over 20 others were injured. 
  • In the Kawkareik battle on Friday, many weapons of the junta army were confiscated and a large number of junta soldiers were caught. 
  • In the town of Kawkareik, there has been heavy fighting between the junta armed forces and an alliance of KNLA since Friday morning. As the military junta has a great loss there, they have used air strikes. 
  • According to KNU sources, the battle in Kawkareik was an offensive attack to promote their public administration. 
  • Lion Battalion Commando called for the public’s contribution as the battle got started for Kawkareik against the junta armed forces.
  •  In Kawkareik Township under Karen National Union Brigade (6), an officer from the junta investigation department, under the guise of being a motorbike taxi driver in town, was caught on Thursday. 
  • In the south of Myawaddy Township under KNU Brigade (6), a combined force of KNLA attacked the junta armed forces at 9:30 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Buthidaung Township of Rakhine State, Arakan Army-AA punished two of their members, who had raped a woman in Kyaungtaung Village, with the imprisonment of 20 years and 30 cane strikes. 
  • In Muse of Shan North, Ta’ang National Liberation Army-TNLA attacked the camps and houses of the junta people’s army on Friday morning. Reportedly, there was heavy fighting with exchanges of fire for two hours. 
  • In an exclusive interview with ThaiPBS, the Chairperson of the Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) Gen Yawd Serk stated that Senior General Min Aung Hlaing may regret he carried out a coup in Myanmar. 
  • In Bawlake of Karenni State, Karenni National Defence Force-KNDF attacked the junta army camp on Tuesday. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Myitkyina Township of Kachin State, there have been some activities in Hsinbo to defame the Kachin Independence Army-KIA and PDF. 
  • In Thantlang Township of Chin State, local CDF managed to confiscate Chin traditional pieces of jewelry from the junta armed forces in local battles. 
  • In Kanpetlet, there was a clash against the junta army. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and many others were injured. 

The Military Council 

  • On Thursday, Ambassadors from Belarus and Nepal gave their credentials to the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing. 
  • On the second day of the junta 2022 Mid-Year Gems Emporium, 189 sets of pearl were sold. 
  • The junta propaganda team announced that KKO and PDF had shot mortars into Kawkareik on Friday morning and conducted attacks in wards. 
  • According to the junta propaganda team, the detention center of Kawkareik Police Station was not opened. 
  • The military junta forced gold and jewelry shops not to post the gold prices online. Consequently, the shops have had to make their sale without transparency in price. 
  • On Wednesday, the junta Myanmar Automated Cargo Clearance System (MACCS) declared tax exemption for 18 imported medicines including Paracetamol and Glucose. 
  • According to the junta Myanmar Railway Department, they will run a special train for Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon-Mandalay for public holidays. 
  • Starting from 8:00 am Friday, the junta armed forces have been clearing out the houses in the neighbourhood of Mandalay Obo Prison in Aungmye Thazan Township. 

Summary on 21 October 

  • In Kawkareik of Kayin State, there has been heavy fighting between the junta armed forces and a combined force of KNLA+PDF. The military junta had a great loss there and some of their members were arrested. 
  • With defensive battles all over the country, the military junta has been confronted with more hardships in military affairs. They might face more attacks in the open season, which will be coming soon.
