The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 10:00 am Friday, there was the second meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and the Interim Chin National Consultative Council.
  • In the areas under control of the NUG, the general public have been eager to pay taxes and some of them have been doing it in advance. Reportedly, township public administration have been collecting taxes from business people in accordance with standard procedures.
  • According to Kayar State Teachers’ Union, there are nearly 300 schools in the area, which are implementing the NUG interim education.
  • In accordance with the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. Reportedly, 126 members of the junta armed forces died and 21 others were injured on Friday.
  • In Yinmabin District of Sagaing Region, a sport competition for the rainy season was conducted at a local school under the guidance of Ministry of Education-NUG.

Revolution Activities

  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Kani Township, local PDFs conducted attacks with mines on 86 junta soldiers, who had set fire to Ngaphyet Village, on Friday and Saturday. Reportedly, no less than 10 junta soldiers might have died.
  • According to Ayadaw Township Public Administration on Saturday, the junta armed forces have burnt down 823 houses in the local area from 2 May to 13 July.
  • On Saturday, Kalay General Strike protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Kalay Township, Operation MoMo conducted a bomb attack on a military car at about 7:30 am Saturday.
  • In Chaung-U Township, junta soldiers shot dead 8 local people at about 9:00 am Saturday.
  • In the south of Kani Township, there was a clash between the junta army and local PDF near Panhsai Village at 2:00 pm Friday.
  • In Khin-U Township, Future hero conducted a bomb attack via drone on junta soldiers and Pyusawti members in Pyintaung Village on Friday. Reportedly, 2 members of the junta armed forces died.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe led a march against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of Shwe Kun Myay marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • There was a video of the case in which 4 members of the junta police had been shot dead at a tea-shop in Salingyi on Friday. According to local people, there were no casualties among civilians.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a rally of Lonekhine Group expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Kayin State, a vehicle carrying LNG was shot at near Kawnwet Village on Kawkarait-Myawaddy Asia Road Section at 10:30 am Saturday. According to passers-by, the sounds of mortars and gunfire were heard in the neighborhood.
  • Castr, Camada-based live broadcasting service company, confirmed that they had banned online lives of Myanmar Radio and Television-MRTV.
  • In 8 big cities of Japan, there would be protests against the Japanese government for inviting the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing to attend the funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and sitting on the fence in terms of Myanmar’s politics.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to communication person of Kachin Independence Army-KIA, there were heavy battles in Kachin State in July due to the invasion of the junta armed forces and the junta people’s army.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township under Karen National Union-KNU, the junta army raided a church in Myitta Ward and took away the money worth over one lakh MMK.
  • According to the Arakan Army-AA, they released the administrator of Ponnagyun Township and his driver after investigation as they were not related to military affairs in the area.

The Military Council

  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that they would continue to deal with the ICJ in accordance with international laws.
  • According to the junta economic committee meeting (6/2022), government employees would be supported for their house rental fee.
  • The junta Minister of Home Affairs told the police in Sagaing and Magwe that they had made progress in peace and stability of the regions due to their cooperation.
  • At a hearing in the Netherlands, the ICJ dismissed all four objections submitted by the military junta on Friday.
  • According to the junta Central Bank, it was just a rumour that they had been confiscating foreign currency of companies, organizations, individuals and foreign currency accounts. In their statement, they claimed that they had been buying the money from foreign currency accounts since 3 April.
  • In Thantaung Township of Kayin State, there were battles from 15 to 18 July. There, 25 junta soldiers including 4 officers died. Reportedly, the dead body of Captain Lu Min Han was discarded by the junta army.

Summary on 23 July

  • The military junta has always been looking for ways to tell lies to the public. The previous day, the junta propaganda leader denied that they had confiscated foreign currency. It was followed by the announcement of the junta Central Bank with similar lies. For the people, they are just a gang of criminals in public.
  • The armed revolution has been in great momentum throughout Sagaing. As for the junta armed forces, they have been committing war crimes there for months by burning villages and killing civilians.
