The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 1:00 pm on Wednesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administrative Teams from Yangon, Mandalay and Magwe regions.
  • At 3:00 pm on Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Security and Defence Committee under the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the Committee Representing the Sagaing Hluttaw (CRSH) and the Committee Representing the Mandalay Hluttaw (CRMH).
  • According to the NUG Ministry of Defence, the junta army arrived at Taungsalone Village. A combined force of the Pa-O National Defence Force, the Karenni National Defence Force and the Nay Pyi Taw People’s Defence Force rescued 15 local people trapped in the village.
  • Over the first three months of 2023, the NUG Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the foreign ministers, responsible personnel and MPs from the UK, the USA and Czech Republic.
  • Nway Oo University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Arizona (UA) as partners to carry out education programs and projects for Myanmar students.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The Consultant of the US Foreign Department claimed that the Myanmar crisis would be resolved if the arms export of Russia to Myanmar’s Army could be banned.
  • In Launglon in Tanintharyi Region, the Dawei District Democracy Committee led a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Palaw Township, there was a mine attack on a junta’s convoy, killing 13 junta soldiers.
  • On the border of Shwekyin Township and Nyaunglebin Township in Bago Region, the junta armed forces set fire to two local villages. Reportedly, 21 houses were burnt to ashes and a person was killed.
  • In Yesagyo Township in Magway Region, there was a drone bomb attack on the junta army. Reportedly, five junta soldiers were injured.
  • In Amarapura Township and Aungmye Thazan Township in Mandalay Region, a junta policeman and two hundred-household leaders died in grenade attacks.
  • On Thursday, the Taze Township General Strike marched against the election which will be conducted by the military junta.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army set fire to Myakan Village.
  • In Salingyi, there was an attack at the junta army in No. (1) Yarn Factory, killing three junta soldiers.
  • On Thursday, a rally of Yin Mar Bin north marched against the military dictatorship.
  • The UMCD called on Yangon residents to join hands with Urban Guerrillas to help them conduct their missions in the city.
  • In Kyonepyaw Township in Ayeyarwady Region, U Tun San, the junta administrator who had been involved in the junta killing of local people in Hleswe Village, was shot dead.
  • On 27 March, monks will protest against Min Aung Hlaing’s military junta.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • Since 22 March, the three ethnic armed organisations based in Shan State and members of the Northern Alliance, have been meeting with the military junta in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • In Matupi Township in Chin State, there was fighting on the Matupi-Paletwa Road. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died.
  • In Chin State, a combined force of CDFs attacked a junta convoy on the way out of Falam. According to the Chin National Defence Force, four junta soldiers died.
  • According to Mon State Human Rights Foundation, the military junta has continued to arrest and take away civilians, especially women, in the southeast of the country.
  • For the arms of Karenni Nationalities Defence Force fighting the junta army in Karenni State, a fund-raising project named ‘The Fence’ has been conducted.

The Military Council

  • The junta electricity office in Pyimanar Township announced that the power will be supplied in rotation in Nay Pyi Taw starting from 22 March due to a decline in power production.
  • On Wednesday, the junta propaganda leader stated that it would accept about 1000 Rohingya refugees as a pilot repatriation project and that it might be in mid-April.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it is necessary to create a carbon-free environment by reducing the use of fuel oil and thus, nuclear power projects must be started whilst completing other power projects as soon as possible.
  • On Wednesday, the junta Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Regional Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Myanmar.
  • There was a meeting between the junta Minister of International Cooperation and the ICRC. Reportedly, they discussed the repatriation of refugees from Rakhine State, the cooperation between the Myanmar Government and the ICRC, and the coordination of humanitarian assistance in the country.

Summary on 24 March

  • The junta leader claimed that it has been trying to supply power via nuclear projects whilst reducing carbon emissions by reducing the use of fuel oil. According to experts, nuclear is not a carbon-clean source of electricity. Without proper maintenance, it will even pose dangers to the environment. In reality, they want nuclear energy, not because of electricity, but because they want to behave like the dictator of North Korea.
  • In addition to burning villages in upcountry areas, the junta armed forces have also been burning villages in the south and the southeast of the country. It might become worse.
