The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Thursday, the NUG released a statement of prohibition that the junta’s illegitimate 20000-MMK bank notes were not to be used at private banks and financial service providers.
  • In Timor, there was a meeting between HE José Ramos-Horta- the President of Timor and Union Minister of Human Rights- NUG. Reportedly, they discussed cooperative effort for justice.
  • In a closed-door meeting on Myanmar’s affairs on Wednesday, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the United Nations claimed that in spite of the resolution of the UN Security Council, the military junta has continued to commit violence against the public.
  • Monywa Township People’s Administration announced that they would sue a group of armed robbers, who had killed a pregnant woman in the city of Monywa of Sagaing Region, at the court of the NUG.
  • In Taninthayi Township under control of the NUG in Taninthayi Region, there was a football competition for local schools from 13 to 23 August.
  • On Wednesday afternoon, there was a meeting between Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.
  • In Chin State, Mindat Township People’s Administration conducted a training on administrative procedures to the members so that they could carry out administrative tasks and provide public services effectively during the Spring Revolution.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The United Nations Security Council released a joint statement, calling on the military junta to release all political prisoners including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, implement the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus and follow the decision related to Myanmar.
  • The United States placed economic sanctions on two individuals and three companies for importing aviation fuel for the junta army.
  • A total of more than 500 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Myanmar released a statement of objection, claiming that the trip of the Chief of the UNOCHA failed and it was abused as junta propaganda.
  • Reportedly, 200 CSOs called on the Singaporean Government to stop the sale of weapons and military-related technology to Myanmar’s junta army and not to allow the military junta to enter the financial system.
  • In the south of Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army set fire to Thazi Village for 9 days on Thursday.
  • In Salingyi Township, a policeman from Wanbao Copper Mining defected to the public, along with two guns, on Thursday.
  • In Monywa, there was an attack on the junta army on secret patrol in town on Wednesday afternoon. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • In Ye-U Township, there was an ambush on a combined force of junta soldiers and Pyusawti members on their way out from Aungtha Village on Tuesday. Reportedly, 3 junta members died and 2 others got injured.
  • In Wetlet Township, more than 15,000 people from 9 local villages have had to run away due to the invasion of the junta army. Reportedly, they have been in need of food, medicine and shelter.
  • In Indaw Township, a junta military court sentenced 4 people to death.
  • The military junta sentenced the singer Byuhar to 20 years in. prison for criticising Min Aung Hlaing in comparison to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta’s Kaingdawma police station and junta armed forces on 21 August.
  • In Mindone Township, there was a battle between Kyowa Village and Ywathit Village on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, over 15 junta soldiers died.
  • In Myaing Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army on the Pakkoku-Kamma Road on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, there were casualties among the junta soldiers.
  • In Pauk Township, local revolutionary forces attacked the junta inspection gate in Yebyar Village on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, the police on duty ran away and two motorbikes were confiscated along with a gun.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, the Dawei Democratic Movement Strike Committee conducted a public campaign to boycott junta army products.
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, a couple from the junta Border Guard Force was attacked at 7:30 am Thursday. Reportedly, they died and two guns were confiscated.
  • In KyarIn in Seikgyi Township in Kayin State, there was a drone bombing attack on the junta army Ka-La-Ya (283) on Tuesday night.
  • In the area under the control of the Karen National Union in Kayin State, the AAC led by Ko Ye Min gave food and clothes to the CDM staff on Wednesday.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

  • In Muse Township in Northern Shan State, the junta army destroyed the road connecting local villages by bulldozer on 15 August.
  • In the eastern part of Fruso Township in Karenni State, the junta army conducted a bomb attack via drone on a local village wjhere there was no fighting on Tuesday. According to the KNDF, 3 children were injured.
  • In Dupalaya District under the KNU, a member of the junta BGF defected to the KNLA, along with weapons. Reportedly, he was rewarded with 50,000 baht.

The Military Council

  • The junta Minister of Planning and Finance stated that it is necessary to take action against the activities, which would harm the cost of living, according to the law.
  • On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the junta Labor Minister and the Chief of Mission Mr. Dragan Aleksoski from the International Organization for Migration to assist Myanmar migrant workers abroad.
  • On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the junta Myanmar Consul from Cumin and the Director General Mr. Lv Dong Sheng from Xinjiang province. Reportedly, they discussed investment opportunities including for electric vehicles in Myanmar.
  • According to the junta’s road department, it has completed building 70% of the temporary bridge to replace the one that was damaged by flooding and landslides on the Myawaddy-Kawkarait Asia Road,.
  • In Hainggyigyun Township of Ayeyarwady Region, more and more junta soldiers have deserted the junta navy. Reportedly, only 90 old-aged ones are left at the navy base there.

Summary on 25 August

  • The US has placed sanctions, not only on the military junta, but also on its associates. Therefore, the junta supporters must decide whether to stand for the public or for the military junta.
