The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Saturday, the NUG released a statement welcoming the decision of the ICJ which had turned down the proposal of the military junta. They added that they would also keep commitment to the accountability of the junta army for all their crimes in the sphere of international justice.
  • On Saturday, Ministry of Human Rights-NUG announced that those who had committed the mass murder of 29 men in Monedinebin Village of Sagaing Region in May were soldiers from the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (708) based in Tikegyi Township and their commander was military officer Tun Lin Aung.
  • According to Distance Learning Academy, there have been invitations for volunteers who would teach high school subjects at Spring Federal High School under the Ministry of Education-NUG.
  • According to Pale Township Public Administration, the NUG got started with their 9 inspection gates in the area on Saturday and started collecting taxes.

Revolution Activities

  • In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, there was a mine explosion in front of the school in Myindaung Village on Saturday. Reportedly, there were many casualties in the incident. On Sunday, junta soldiers faced another mine attack and 6 more junta soldiers died.
  • In Khin-U Township, there was a fighting between the junta army and a local PDF near Maunggyadaw Village on Saturday morning. Reportedly, 2 PDF members lost lives and 2 others were injured.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta armed forces set fire to 7 local villages within a week and killed 5 people including PDF members.
  • As a 500-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday, holding signs for the revolution.
  • On Sunday, Kalay people protested against the military dictatorship, raising a banner - ‘There is no refuge in the plain of injustice’.
  • The Alliance of Northwest PDFs announced that the vehicles were to lower their mirror and drive at an appropriate speed on Monywa-Ayadaw road section and the public were to inform local PDFs in advance if they need to use the road between 8:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
  • In Monywa, U Myint Swe, allegedly a junta informer, was shot dead near the Industrial Zone Market on Sunday morning.
  • In Sagaing Township, local PDF arrested a Pyusawti member from Taungmyo Village carrying two guns on Saturday afternoon and let him go after questioning.
  • In Salingyi Township, 7 junta soldiers died in two guerrilla attacks and 3 weapons were confiscated.
  • In Mawlight and Phaungbyin townships, there were heavy battles between the junta army and local defence forces from 17 to 22 July. Reportedly, 14 junta soldiers died. As for PDF, they lost 8 members.
  • In Kani Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship and paid tribute to the heroes of the Spring Revolution.
  • In Kani Township, the junta army set fire to 3 houses in Ngaphyet Village on Saturday morning.
  • On Saturday, 40 local PDFs from Sagaing and Magwe regions established an alliance to uproot the military dictatorship.
  • On Sunday morning, Reaper Column consisting of 3 Pakkoku PDFs got started with their inspection on Pakkoku-Myaing road section for security in the area.
  • In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, U Tint Lwin, a USDP member in Kanpaing Village, was shot dead on Sunday morning.
  • On Sunday, Mandalay Monks Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Yangon Region, a rally of revolution forces marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday afternoon.
  • According to prison sources, Ko Kant Thu Aung, Chair of Yangon Economics University Students’ Union, has to stay with other criminals in Insein Prison and he has received ill-treatment.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, PDF made inspections near Kyetyetdwin Village at 3:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, they found alcoholic drinks owned by a Pyusawti member in a car and destroyed them.
  • In Thayetchaung and Dawei townships, there were battles between the junta army + BGFs-Border Guard Force and local PDFs in June and July. Reportedly, no less than 52 soldiers died and many others were injured whereas 7 PDF members and a civilian lost lives.
  • In Kyaikto Township under Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (1), local revolution force conducted an attack at the junta Winkalaw Gate on Saturday evening.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, local people marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Sunday morning. They also expressed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • On the entrance to Hpakant, there was an attack at the junta police camp near Panbin Bridge at about 5:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Kalaw Township of Shan South, Aung Ban Urban Task Force called on the public to be committed to the revolution.
  • Throughout Japan, Myanmar people marched against the military junta and called on the Japanese government not to have a relationship with the Myanmar junta army.
  • In Gumi of South Korea, there was a fund-raising event for the revolution as well as a protest against the military dictatorship. Reportedly, Daegu Sayardaw called on Myanmar people from all over the world to contribute financially to the revolution.
  • At 8:00 pm Sunday, there was a roundtable talk on the Victory of Public’s Revolution. Reportedly, famous artists took part in it.
  • On Friday night, family members were able to meet virtually with U Jimmy-88 Generation leader and U Phyo Zayar Thaw-former NLD MP who have been sentenced to death.
  • According to the BBC, the military junta will not implement the sentence yet.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kyaukphyu Township of Rakhine State, Arakan Army-AA arrested police officer Kyaw Zin Win at the local market on Sunday morning.
  • In Paletwa Township of Chin State, there was a fighting between the junta army and AA at 10:00 am Sunday.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township under the KNU, the junta armed forces arrested 34 local people. According to KNU Central on Sunday, the number of IDPs totaled up to 16036.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township, the junta army destroyed KNU communication office on 16 July.
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, a combined force of KNLA attacked the junta BGF gate in Pwintlin Ayemyein Village at about 4:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, 2 BGF members died, 4 others were caught alive and 4 guns were confiscated.

The Military Council

  • On Saturday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that there were very few people who could go beyond primary and secondary level education in the current decade, causing a great need for educated people in many more decades to come.
  • The junta Ministry of Planning and Finance announced that an exclusive fund of 400 billion MMK would be established from the national fund for natural disaster risks management to give loans to local businesses with reasonable interest rates.
  • The junta Ministry of International Cooperation announced that the decision of the ICJ dismissing the objections of Myanmar to the lawsuit of Gambia had been recorded and Myanmar had never violated the Convention.
  • On Saturday, the junta Minister of Electricity and Energy said that they were able to produce 166 megawatts from Nay Pyi Taw Mid Paunglaung Project.
  • According to the junta Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, there was a leakage in Zawtika off-shore gas pipeline, the main source of gas for CNG stations in Yangon. Reportedly, it would take weeks to repair it.
  • On Saturday, the junta Ministry of Health announced that there were 43 cases of COVID-19 infection in the country.
  • On Friday, the junta administration in Yangon Region extended the order of no gathering and curfews.
  • In Pantanaw Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the administrators urged the public just to watch the junta propaganda TV channels - MRTV and MWD.
  • In Ngaputaw Township, U Thet Paing Soe, NLD MP for regional parliament, signed the confession to live with his family again.
  • On 18 July, the military junta arrested Soe Naing, police officer from Dawei Police Station, for investigation.
  • Through the junta propaganda newspapers, the military junta has been calling candidates for 4 military academies to submit applications by 5 August at the latest.

Summary on 24 July

  • Due to armed revolution all over the country, the junta armed forces have had a great loss. Moreover, they have faltered as some soldiers leave them and some others join the CDM. To strengthen their forces again, they have been calling for candidates for their military institutions by reducing age and deadline restrictions.
  • In Sagaing Region with powerful revolution, the junta administration has been on the verge of collapse. The junta members and informers have lost lives on a daily basis. On the other hand, the public’s administration has become stronger and stronger.
  • As for the military junta, they have been faced with both local and international hardships. For the time being, they also have to confront military challenges as their battles against the powerful Arakan Army-AA has resumed recently.
