The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the Headquarters Office of the People’s Defence Force under the Ministry of Defence- NUG on Monday, 41 junta soldiers died and 40 others were injured in the battle near Nanza Village of Kyaukdagar Township in Bago Region.
  • In Kanpetlet Township of Chin State, local forces attacked the junta army camp on Yan Aung Pagoda Hill. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • On Sunday, the Fire Brigade under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG announced that they had established a Local Fire Security Force in Dibeyin Township of Sagaing Region.
  • At 10:00 am on Sunday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and Township People’s Administration from Taninthayi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.
  • To gain control of Naypyi Taw, Dancing with Ladies conducted a three-week campaign for local and international contributions.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, there was an anti-junta movement in memory of the four martyrs on Sunday evening.
  • In Longlone Township, Dawei Democratic Movement Strike Committee conducted a rural-based anti-junta protest in a local village on Sunday night.
  • In Longlone Township, the PDF attacked the Pyusawti Militia camp where they were demanding money from the public in Kyauk Nimaw Village. Reportedly, 5 junta members died.
  • According to Dawei Information Center, the junta army arrested and ill-treated four people in Yange Village of Thayetchaung Township.
  • On 21 July, ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) announced that the military junta has sentenced many more people to death and it is evident they have been turning a blind eye to the law.
  • In Dike-U Township of Bago Region, there was an attack with a 107mm grenade on the junta army Ka-La-Ya (30) near Pyinbonegyi Village.
  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, there were attacks via drone and heavy artillery on the junta army stations. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers died.
  • In Taze, there was an attack on 3 military cars on patrol in town. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and so did a Pyusawti member. In addition, one of the vehicles was confiscated.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe with determination marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On Monday, a rally of Yinmabin and Salingyi marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • The US Embassy in Yangon released a statement of sorrow on the one-year anniversary of the junta’s execution of the four martyrs of the Spring Revolution; Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zay Yar Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung and Ko Aung Thura Zaw.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • According to the Karen National Union (KNU) on Monday, a junta commander and a second commander, who had retreated without order from the battle near Mount Latkhat in Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, were sentenced to prison.
  • In Kanpetlet Township of Chin State, local CDFs attacked the junta army on their way out. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.
  • In Muse Township of Shan State, there was a local battle between the junta armed forces and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) near Selant Village. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that they would issue a new 20,000-MMK banknote.
  • In Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State, the junta army conducted a fighter jet airstrike on Yardo Area on Saturday. Consequently, a Christian nunnery and some houses were damaged.
  • According to the junta Myanmar Communication Department, It has been carrying out inspections of the personal information of mobile phone users with data from Ministry of Immigration. Thus, SIM cards not registered within 90 days will be banned.
  • The junta Yangon Gold Enterprise Association released a statement calling for no gold trade that would disturb the stability of the Yangon Gold Market.
  • The junta Central Bank had a question and answer program related to the publication of 20,000-MMK notes containing the image of a white elephant.

Summary on 25 July

  • Due to the junta’s publication of new money notes, the value of Myanmar currency has decreased. On the other hand, some people have withdrawn their money from the banks and invested in real estate or automobile markets.
  • The anti-junta activities have been stronger in Sagaing, Bago, Kayin, Karenni and Chin.
