The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a government meeting on Tuesday, the Acting President of the NUG stated that the meeting of Mr. Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations, with the junta leader was like showing off a villain on the international stage.
  • The Acting President of the NUG claimed that it is necessary to make an effort to get a lot of international support for equality, democracy, freedom and justice.
  • The spokesperson of the NUG President's Office stated that all the international diplomats who ignore the desire of the public and have relations with the illegitimate military junta just ended up with losses.
  • At 9:00 am Monday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and the leaders of People’s Strike Committees.
  • According to a representative of Mandalay PDF, they have been in need of arms and ammunition as they have had battles against the junta army in Naungcho Township in Shan North from 5 to 22 April.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Salingyi Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army shot dead a local resident and raided local villages on Tuesday morning.
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship, holding signs for strong determination.
  • On Tuesday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Taze Township, the PDFs attacked the camp of the junta army and Pyusawti Militia in Nadaunggya Village at about 3:00 am Tuesday. Reportedly, 12 junta members died and 7 weapons were confiscated.
  • In Monywa, there was an attack on the junta army stationed at the entrance to town at 1:45 pm Monday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In Sagaing Township, the PDFs attacked the junta army burning local villages on 22 April. Reportedly, there were 57 casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Monywa Township, there was a mine attack on 3 military cars at 4:30 am Monday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Sagaing Township, the junta army raided Dibeyingwe Village and shot dead a villager named Ko Tun Tun Win on 23 April. Reportedly, they cut off his male organ and put it in his mouth.
  • In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, there were exchanges of fire between Pyusawti and the PDF at about 6:00 am Tuesday. Reportedly, a Pyusawti leader died.
  • In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, the junta army killed Ko Kyaw Lwin, a resident of Zeedaw Village, by burning at about 1:00 pm Monday. Reportedly, they also set fire to over 170 public houses.
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, Kyankhine Township Strike Committee protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region, an alliance of PDFs attacked the junta inspection gate of Phayame on the morning of 23 April. Reportedly, 15 junta soldiers died.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, the revolutionary forces shot dead 6 junta soldiers including an officer at Happy KTV. Afterwards, the junta army shot dead two young people passing the KTV on Monday morning.
  • According to the daughter of former Rakhine State Chief Minister, the political prisoners including her father did not get access to medical treatment in Rakhine State.
  • In South Korea, youths from the MARA organized a Fuse football match to raise funds for the Spring Revolution.
  • In front of the junta Myanmar Embassy in France, there was a protest against the junta’s lawless massacres including the case in Pazigyi Village.
  • In Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, there was a fundraising activity for the revolution.
  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners on Tuesday, the military junta has sealed off 751 houses of democracy activists all over the country from 1 February 2021 to 31 March 2023.
  • People’s Strike Committees called on the NUG to take action against Local People’s Administration and Local Defence Forces abusing power at the grassroots level and protect those doing it right.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • On Monday, the 59th anniversary of the founding of the Shan State Army (SSA) by the Shan State Progressive Party was celebrated in their headquarters and the areas under other brigades.
  • On the 59th anniversary of the SSA, the SSPP stated that the essence of peace would be fully available only when the dictatorship came to an end and true federal democracy came into existence.
  • According to sources from the KIA and PDFs, around 50 junta soldiers including the strategist died in recent battles in Htigyaint Township of Sagaing Region. Reportedly, the body of the strategist was taken away in a helicopter.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, there was a battle between the junta army and a combined force of the KIA between Hmawpone Village and Kansee Village on Tuesday morning.
  • In Pekone Township of Shan State, over 20 junta soldiers including officers died in the battle in Myauksalone Village on Monday. Besides, a large number of weapons were confiscated.
  • Karenni National Defence Force called on the public to contribute to Karenni .5 Project for local battles against the junta armed forces.
  • In Rathaytaung of Rakhine State, the Arakan Army arrested two of their members who had run away together with weapons.
  • In Hakha Township of Chin State, there was a battle between the junta army and local forces near Lonekyway Village at about 10:00 pm Sunday. According to the spokesperson of Chin National Army, about 10 junta soldiers died and 6 others got injured.
  • In Hakha Township, the junta army dropped bombs twice via fighter jet on a Christian prayer hall near Kunkyone Village at about 7:00 pm on 23 April. Reportedly, the hall was damaged.
  • On 23 April, CDF – CDM SIYIN warned the public not to use the road connecting Kalay of Sagaing Region and Titain of Chin State for security reason.
  • On the two-year anniversary of the revolution of CDF Mindat, they announced that they had over 180 battles against the junta army over the period of two years and over 450 junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • On Monday, there was a meeting between the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Vice Chair of the Elders in Nay Pyi Taw. Reportedly, they exchanged views on the latest situation of Myanmar.
  • The Elders announced that the Vice Chair and former Secretary General of the UN Mr. Ban Ki-moon called on the junta leader to seek solutions together with all the stakeholders including the NUG, implement the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus and follow the decision of the UN Security Council.
  • In a meeting with the students at the Union Ethnic Development University on Monday, the junta leader claimed that a union could be built based on democracy and federalism via dialogue only when the armed revolution and the armed conflicts were left behind.
  • On Monday afternoon, the junta Minister of Defence Major General Mya Tun Oo and former Secretary General of the UN Mr. Ban Ki-moon discussed the political situation of Myanmar.
  • According to the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun, there was an exclusive meeting between former President U Thein Sein and former Secretary General of the UN.
  • On Monday, the junta Union Election Commission announced that they had permitted the registration of the Myanmar People’s Democratic Party as a political party.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health at 8:00 pm Monday, 51 people tested COVID-19 positive.
  • The Ministry of Health sent letters to responsible personnel of hospitals all over the country and instructed them to get ready for the treatment of COVID-19.
  • According to the statistics of the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, the trade volume of exports was 436.52 million USD within the first two weeks of 2023-24 fiscal year.

Summary on 26 April

  • The former Secretary General of the UN mentioned the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus which the junta leader himself promised and failed to follow. He also called on the junta leader to follow the decision of the UN Security Council. Therefore, it did not turn out as Min Aung Hlaing expected.
  • The junta leader repeated the words of former military dictators that leaving the armed path and choosing the dialogue would build democracy. However, there has been no fruit of peace yet just by discussing with the army.
