The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Union Prime Minister attended an event held on completion of military training by Cobra Column and provided them with 50 weapons out of those supplied to the Southern Military Region.
  • In Ayadaw Township in Sagaing Region, the Public Administration, People’s Defence Force and Education Board jointly organized educational funfairs at local public schools.
  • Under the guidance of the NUG, there was an educational funfair, along with a prize-giving ceremony, at a public school in Yinmabin Township on Sunday.
  • In Tokyo, Japan, there was a meeting between the NUG Representative’s Office and the Myanmar community on Sunday.
  • At 10:00 am on Monday, there was a meeting between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration and the Township Public’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region and Bago Region. Reportedly, the Union Minister U Lwin Ko Latt delivered the opening address.
  • At an educational funfair at Moegok Federal School on Friday, the NUG Acting President stated that it was necessary to leave the junta slavery education and promote a federal education.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Myaing Township in Magwe Region, local PDFs attacked seven members of the junta army who were going shopping on Monday morning. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In Yesagyo Township, there was fighting for two consecutive days, three junta soldiers were killed.
  • In Chaung-U Township in Sagaing Region, PDFs attacked Kangyigone Pyu Saw Htee Village and Amyint Police Station at the same time. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers.
  • On their 655th day of protest, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • In Monywa, there was an attack on a car carrying seven members of the junta police on their way to buy betel. Reportedly, three policemen, including their Chief, died on the spot.
  • In Taze Township, the General Strike Committee marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Monday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • On Monday, protesters in Yinmabin North marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • In Minhla Township in Bago Region and Kantbalu Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army has been trying to recruit youths and children under 18 by force for their regiments and Pyu Saw Htee groups.
  • In Moegok Township in Mandalay Region, Khin Maung San, the junta-appointed administrator of Kin Village, was stabbed to death.
  • In Malaysia, Myanmar citizens protested against the junta’s proposed fake 2023 election at the NLD-OC Office on Monday.
  • In Launglon Township in Tanintharyi Region, the Dawei Rosy Women’s Union led a march against the military dictatorship, holding signs saying: ‘Turn fear into strength’.
  • In Mokaung Township in Kachin State, local PDFs captured a prison officer who was a former army officer.
  • In Mawlamyeingyun in Ayeyarwady Region, the junta army has been after three junta informers for arrest.
  • There is a rumour that the NUG, in cooperation with local brokers, has been selling young women abroad.
  • Ko Kyaw Zay Ya, the Chief Editor of of the Kambawza Times based in Taunggyi in Shan State, was arrested by the junta army. Reportedly, he is being held at the junta investigation camp inside the junta army Sa-Ya Fa base in Oatpho, Bago Region.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • On the special occasion of Christmas, the Interim Chin National Consultative Council released a statement that all Myanmar people, including ethnic Chin people, had been faced with various hardships on a daily basis since Myanmar’s Army seized power by force.

The Military Council

  • In Sagaing Town the military junta sealed off a house.
  • According to court sources, the final verdicts for the corruption charges against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi and President U Win Myint will be given in court on 30 December.
  • In Mindat in Chin State, family members of the police in three cars sang Christmas carols at some houses and shops along the road in town on Saturday afternoon.
  • In his opening speech at the ceremony of the 48th Rakhine State Day, the junta Chief Minister of Rakhine State said that Sittway Port, one of the bilateral projects between India and Myanmar, will soon be opened for direct trade between the two countries.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, the garment exports were worth over $3.7 billion USD in the eight months of the current fiscal year.
  • Starting from 9 January 2023, there will be a population check on every household in the Yangon Region.
  • After the military coup, a large number of military personnel have sometimes been transferred to the civilian ministries to take up top positions.

Summary on 27 December

  • Since the Army seized power by force, it has purposefully caused hardships in the public services sector and has appointed its personnel as high-ranking public service sector officials. In other words, the army carried out the coup so that it can do whatever it wants in the country.
  • In the countryside, including upcountry, the revolution still has great momentum. As for the NUG, it has managed, to some extent, to equip PDFs with weapons.
