The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG released a statement welcoming the sanctions of the Finance Department under the US Government on the individuals and organizations associated with the military junta on 24 March.

Revolution Activities

  • In Palaw Township of Taninthayi Region, a combined force of PDFs conducted bomb attacks via drone on the junta army camps in Pulawgone Village and Nantaung Village.
  • In Sagaing Region, there was an attack on a junta army troop pretending to be local PDFs on their way from Sartaung to Theinchaung Village on Saturday. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died.
  • In the south of Butalin, the junta army set fire to Sonegone Village. Reportedly, 175 houses were burnt to ashes and seven elderly people were burnt to death.
  • In Yin Mar Bin Township, there were two mine attacks on vehicles carrying copper produced by Chinese Wanbao Mining, protected by the junta armed forces.
  • According to the Yadanarbone University Students’ Union, it has been arranging a 300-lakh MMK campaign for the student comrades fighting in Sagaing Region.
  • On Sunday morning, a rally of Yin Mar Bin North marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, no less than 20 junta soldiers and policemen died in fighting in the Myawaddy Trade Zone. Besides, 20 others were caught alive together with weapons in local battles including the one at Kyonedoe Police Station in Kawkareik Township.
  • In Usan in South Korea, Daegu Sayardaw led an anti-junta protest, which was joined by Myanmar and Korean people, on Sunday.
  • In Malaysia, the 22222 Support Team conducted an emergency meeting on Sunday to provide assistance to the victims of fire and the IDPs in Myanmar.
  • In Monywa, the Local General Strike marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, there was an anti-junta banner put up for Anti-Fascist Day which will fall on 27 March.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • According to the Karen National Union (KNU), a nun and a civilian died because of junta fighter jet air strikes and mortars fired by the junta Border Guard Force (BGF) from Nyaunggone Gate on the same day. Moreover, a child was injured, a hut was damaged and a plantation was destroyed.
  • In Thaton District under the KNU Brigade (1), local revolutionary forces attacked the Laykay junta army camp.
  • On Sunday, CDF Kanpetlet announced that the Yinke-Kyindwe Road in Kanpetlet Township in Chin State has been temporarily closed for security reasons.
  • In Chin State, an alliance of the Chin Revolutionary Forces conducted a mine attack on the junta army on the way from Falam Township to Hakha Township. According to the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF), four junta soldiers died.
  • In Matupi Township, 13 junta soldiers died in fighting between Mile Post 14 and 15 on the Matupi-Paletwa Road.

The Military Council

  • In the third week of April, the junta Union Supreme Court will have a hearing on whether to accept or reject the appeal related to the seven charges against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi.
  • The military junta has been putting pressure on farmers to repay agricultural loans provided by the NLD government. Reportedly, they have conducted arrests. They have also threatened that the farmland will be confiscated by the Army from those who fail to repay.
  • According to the junta Union Election Commission, political parties have to re-register or register for the first time by 28 March. So far, 52 parties have submitted their registration.
  • According to the junta propaganda team, there were battles in Myawaddy Trade Zone, causing casualties.
  • The junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce announced that copyright offices will be opened in Yangon and Mandalay in the coming fiscal year to carry out registrations for trade logos.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that the import, sale and the use of licenseless vehicles has reduced tax returns.
  • In Kyauktaw Township in Rakhine State, three out of five IDP camps will be closed at the end of March. Reportedly, the Township General Administrator told camp administrators that the residents have to go back to their homes.

Summary on 27 March

  • To hold onto power, the military junta has been arranging a fake election even amidst a lack of stability in the country. The parties that take part in the elections will have to face the same disgust and hatred that the public has for the junta army.
  • On their way to Chin State, a large number of junta armed forces have had to face guerrilla attacks every now and then. Reportedly, they have suffered great losses there.
