The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Instead of the NUG’s regular meeting, an emergency meeting was conducted on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, it was joined by the NUG Acting President, Union Prime Minister, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Secretaries.
  • According to the NUG United Bonds, the sale of their bonds and EOD shares increased by four times after the military junta announced the execution of four Spring heroes.
  • The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) announced that those that received the death penalty did not get transparency, fairness or justice and the executions were murders. The authorities also did not notify family members before the executions or return the men's bodies after the executions.
  • The NUCC pointed out that the inhumane execution of four political prisoners was a sign that the military junta will execute others sentenced to death.
  • The NUG welcomed the decision of the ICJ related to preliminary objections in the case of Gambia and Myanmar. They also stated that they would keep their commitment to full cooperation with the ICJ.
  • On Monday, the Yangon Regional Force of Military Affairs announced that they would put more effort into fighting for those who sacrificed their lives in the fight against the military dictatorship, those who were detained and those who were tortured physically or mentally.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The ASEAN Chair and Prime Minister of Cambodia stated that the execution of four democracy activists in Myanmar was like turning a blind eye to the efforts of ASEAN and the that the military junta is reluctant to support the effort of the ASEAN.
  • The UK Minister of Asian Affairs remarked that it was such a cruel and cowardly act to have executed democracy activists.
  • In New York in the United States, there was a prayer event for the four victims of the junta execution and all of those who had lost lives in Spring Revolution, in front of Myanmar Consulate from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm Monday.
  • Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, expressed the strongest condemnation against the execution of political prisoners; U Phyo Zayyar Thaw, U Jimmy, U Hla Myo Aung and U Aung Thura Zaw.
  • On Tuesday, protesters in Bangkok warned the Myanmar Embassy in Thailand that they would no longer express their desire again and they would just raid the embassy if the staff keep up their support for Min Aung Hlaing.
  • In front of the UN Office in Tokyo, more than 200 Myanmar people in Japan expressed their desire for the action against the junta executions in Myanmar.
  • In front of the Myanmar Embassy in France, wreaths were placed in memory of the victims of the junta execution; Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zayyar Thaw, Ko Hla Myo Aung and Ko Aung Thura Zaw.
  • The foreign ministers from eight countries including the EU and the US released a statement that the junta execution was a violent action. They also called for the junta to respect the people's wishes.
  • The junta authorities put pressure on family members not to hold funeral rituals for the four victims of the junta execution.
  • In Myinmu Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces were attacked with mines by local PDFs on Monday. Reportedly, 15 junta soldiers died.
  • In Kani Township, local PDFs attacked military vessels on the Chindwin River on Sunday and Monday. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died from sniper fire.
  • In Monywa, Township, the Basic Education Students’ Union hung a banner for Kaung Set Hein who lost his life in the revolution last year.
  • On Tuesday, the Kalay General Strike hung an anti-junta banner.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, seven junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members died in a Zayyar Thaw Operation carried out by a local PDF. Weapons were confiscated.
  • On Monday, a combined force of Underground Revolutionary groups based in Shan south announced that they would uproot the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday, the Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement.
  • In Natoegyi Township in Mandalay Region, the junta army raided Tawway Village from 23 to 25 July. Reportedly, they set fire to 12 houses and took away people’s belongings.
  • After the junta execution of four political prisoners, some young activists in Yangon demonstrated with banners against the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally from Monywa and Ayadaw marched against the military dictatorship.
  • Ko Hla Htoo, a social worker, aged 45, and member of the National League for Democracy in Mingala Taung Nyunt Township, was killed by the military junta during interrogation.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • The Ta’ang Political Consultative Council (TPCC ) condemned the inhumane and lawless execution of the military junta.
  • The Zomi Federal Union expressed its disappointment and sorrow for the lawless action against U Jimmy, U Phyo Zayyar Thaw, U Hla Myo Aung and U Aung Thura Zaw.
  • In Kyaikto in Mon State,a military convoy was attacked with mines twice by a combined force of the KNU, KNLA and Ko Ngal Lay Guerrillas on Tuesday morning.
  • The Chairman of the Shan National League for Democracy (SNLD) said that the junta execution of four political prisoners was adding fuel to the fire of the political crisis.

The Military Council

  • In a press conference on Tuesday, the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that there was no way for Myanmar would end up like Sri Lanka because it had a sufficient amount of dollar reserves.
  • At 9:00 a.m. on Monday, the junta Minister of Immigration and Population received the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar in Naypyitaw.
  • The spokesperson of the junta Election Commission said that they had contacted a representative of the National League for Democracy (NLD) to conduct an inspection of the party's affairs, as has to be done according to the election law.
  • In a junta press conference, a junta spokesperson urged PDF members again to give up arms.
  • The military junta announced again that if the teachers who had been involved in Kaung for You Education contact them by 7 August at the latest and they would guarantee to leave them in peace.

Summary on 27 July

  • Not only the international community but also the ASEAN Chair were upset about the actions of the military junta. It might pose more challenges for the dictators and drive them towards isolation.
  • Regarding the lawless activity of the military junta, the EAOs and the general public expressed their objections. Some of them responded that they would take serious action. The don’t-care attitude of the dictators has been adding fuel to the fire of the political crisis.
  • Due to the inhumane activities of the military junta, there will be more serious activities by revolutionary forces and the public throughout the country.
