The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG, the revolutionary forces cleared off 38 junta soldiers commiting violence against the public, in one day.
  • In Bago Region, the Royal Peacock Column under the Ministry of Defence- NUG had an educational talk to the local community about the dos and don'ts related to air strikes, heavy artillery and land mines. They also had an interactive discussion.
  • In Sagaing Region, Yinmabin District PDF Regiments (3), (4), (5) and (6) announced that they had handed back all the weapons and military items purchased by Captain Dragon as they no longer wanted to follow the leadership of Myanmar Royal Dragon Army, and they would keep staying under the oversight of Ministry of Defence- NUG.
  • Captain Dragon from the MRDA stated that some of their forces have been dismissed under the Code of Conduct of the Ministry of Defence- NUG. He added that it did not mean their revolutionary forces were weakened.
  • According to the People’s Destination on Saturday, many junta soldiers have deserted their army and disobeyed the commands as they have had a great loss at the grassroots level despite the order of senior officers to conduct an invasion by force.
  • According to the social media post of the Minister of Human Rights- NUG, the military junta ordered the staff of the Timor Leste Embassy to leave the country by 1 September at the latest.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Kantbalu District of Sagaing Region, most of the displaced children have been suffering from skin problems in the Zeegone Area and the Htangone Area.
  • On Sunday, local farmers in Sagaing Region expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Ye-U Township, junta armed forces have been invading local villages. Consequently, more than 10,000 people from 15 villages have had to run away.
  • In Butalin Township, the junta army opened fire and raided Danto Village. They then took away rations and valuable things.
  • Kathar Township People’s Administration called on the public not to use the junta’s 20,000MMK bank notes and to take part in the financial battle which would uproot the military junta.
  • In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, there was a bomb explosion near the junta administration office and the USDP office on Saturday night.
  • In Wandwin Township of Mandalay Region, a local PDF tried to catch 2 junta captains and 2 Pyusawti members on their way to gather information about the revolutionary forces. Reportedly, they had to shoot at them as they had attempted to run away. Consequently, members of the Pyusawti died and the injured captains ran away.
  • In Usan in South Korea, a combined rally of Korean and Myanmar people protested against the military coup in Myanmar.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

  • In Kayin State, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta armed forces at the entrance to Kawkarait and in Kawnwet Village. According to Cloud Wing Drone Force, about 5 junta soldiers died.
  • In Pinlaung Township in Southern Shan State, Pekone PDF Regiment (2) confiscated 500 bullets and 9 million MMK from the house of a leader of the junta’s Pa-O National Organisation in Namfarmu Village.
  • In Mindat of Chin State, there was a battle between the junta army and a local CDF on Saturday. Reportedly, there were casualties among the junta soldiers.

The Military Council

  • According to international media, the military junta ordered the staff of the East Timor Embassy in Myanmar to leave the country by 1 September at the latest.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that they had informed the Chargé d'affaires of Timor Embassy and the whole staff to leave Myanmar by 1 September at the latest.
  • In Pathein Prison, the junta prison authorities sued 33 political prisoners who had been beaten almost to death in the riots inside prison.
  • In Ywar Ngan Township of Southern Shan State, a troop of 200 junta soldiers has been invading the forests near Nabangyi Village.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, they have collected information from the ethnic groups in Shan State about their needs for locally-based livelihoods.

Summary on 28 August

  • The military junta expelled the Chargé d'affaires and the embassy staff of East Timor, which recognized the NUG, but not them. They would not be able to do it if other ASEAN members had official relations with the NUG like East Timor.
  • It is necessary for defence forces to be free from corruption and be united until the end of the military dictatorship
