The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG declared that the 20,000-MMK banknotes which will be issued by the military junta as illegitimate.
  • According to Ministry of Defence- NUG, a sergeant from the junta army was awarded 44 lakh MMK for defecting to Myeik District PDF along with his weapons.
  • At 1:00 pm on 25 July, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and the Township People’s Administration from Yangon Region.
  • At 10:00 am on 26 July, there was a workshop on policy review for the second time between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and the Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.
  • U Kyaw Zaw, a spokesperson of the NUG Presidential Office, stated that the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing had been trying to extend the emergency period to sustain their grip on power.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence- NUG, there was a local battle in Saw Township of Magwe Region. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died.

Revolutionary Activities

  • A Myanmar community in the U.S has been protesting against Monk Thabarwa Tayar who cooperates with the military junta who went to the United States.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a combined rally of local villages marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Myinmu Township, there was an attack on the junta army demanding money from travelers on Myaung Divergent Point. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • On Thursday, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Salingyi Township, there was an attack using drones on Kyartat Police Station.
  • In Tamu Township, the junta army shot dead a local resident who had come back to Kanpet because he was concerned about his house.
  • John Lewis Partnership, a well-known department store based in London in the UK, announced that they would stop selling jewels from Myanmar.
  • In Chauk Township of Magwe Region, there was an attack using grenades at the security booth of the junta Myanma Economic Bank at 8:15 pm Wednesday.
  • The US expressed its strong support for the report by the United Nations Human Rights Special Envoy saying that the military junta in Myanmar had bought military weapons and technology worth millions of USD from China to oppress anti-junta groups and civilians after the coup.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, the Dawei Democratic Movement Strike Committee conducted a public campaign against the military dictatorship on Wednesday afternoon.
  • In Moegok of Mandalay Region, there were four local battles. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Kutkhine Township of Shan State, the junta army randomly shot heavy artillery. Consequently, two local people lost their lives and 6 others including a child aged 9 wereinjured.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Lashio Township of Shan State, there was a local battle between the junta army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and a junta car was damaged.
  • On the border of Shan and Karenni, the junta army wildly fired mortars into local villages, killing a civilian and leaving 8 others injured.
  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, there was a battle against the junta army. According to the Karen National Union (Central), a junta sergeant died.
  • The Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO) issued an instruction that the public is not to use the road from Kyaukgyi to Natthangwin at all in Bago Region.
  • In Mindat in Chin State, the junta army arrested and killed 3 displaced people taking refuge at PCM Church. Reportedly, they discarded the dead bodies.

The Military Council

  • Malaysia, which used to harshly criticize the military junta, stated that countries in ASEAN should be free to have bilateral relations with Myanmar
  • In Mawlamyeingyun of Ayeyarwady Region, the junta police and soldiers arrested U Myint Swe, the junta administrator of Ward (9).
  • The Militarnyi Website mentioned that a shell used by the Russian Army had been found to have been produced by Myanmar’s military junta.
  • The junta propaganda leader General Zaw Min Tun stated that the National Defence and Security Council would decide whether the emergency period would be extended in their meeting at the end of July.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that there was no financial need and there was a balance in the circulation of currency in the country.
  • The junta leader said that criticism of the 20,000-MMK bank notes was just a political attack to disturb the economy.
