The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At Myanmar’s Spring Revolution International Conference in the US on Saturday, the Minister of Information and Technology- NUG stated that they would carry out activities with a focus on the discussions and recommendations of respective generations from the conference.
  • In Bago Region, a combined force of revolutionary forces attacked the junta army camps in Kyaukgyi Township and Phyuu Township. According to the military headquarters under the Ministry of Defence- NUG on Sunday, 4 junta soldiers including a captain died.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, revolutionary forces attacked 6 Pyusawti members from Gwaycho Village. According to the military headquarters under the Ministry of Defence- NUG on Sunday, all 6 junta members died on the spot.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs- NUG called on the governments from the international community to respect democratic principles, human rights criteria, humanitarian affairs, to stand for Myanmar people like Timor-Leste has and to help Myanmar get back on the path of democracy.
  • At 5:00 pm Tuesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs- NUG, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs- NUG and Myanmar’s Ambassador to the United Nations will conduct a press conference related to their current activities, action and plans for foreign affairs.
  • U Kyaw Zaw, the spokesperson of the Presidential Office- NUG, stated that there would be legal action against the use of 20,000MMK bank notes under the counter-terrorism law.
  • At 10:00 am Saturday, there was a meeting between the Education Committee under the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the members of township education boards. Reportedly, they discussed their activities on the ground.
  • On Sunday morning, there was a meeting among the comrades of Gantgaw District PDF Regiment (13). Reportedly, they discussed their action plans.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township of Bago Region, there was a battle on the night of 25 August. According to the Ministry of Defence- NUG, 3 junta soldiers died.

Revolutionary Activities

  • According to Reuters, the government of East Timor denounced the action of the military junta forcing the staff to leave the East Timor Embassy and Myanmar.
  • In Ye-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army invaded local villages on Monday morning, firing mortars. Reportedly, local people from 15 more villages had to run away.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Public’s Strength marched against the military dictatorship on Monday, holding a banner saying ‘Stopping killing people for copper’.
  • In Sagaing Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta police station in Nyaungbinwun Village on Sunday. Reportedly, 17 junta members including a captain died.
  • In Wetlet Township, there was an attack on Hladaw Local Police Station at about 6:00 pm Sunday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Ye-U Township, there were four mine attacks on a junta army troop on Sunday. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers might have died.
  • Kyauklonegyi PDF, based in Kani Township, has conducted a campaign to equip their forces with bullets, calling for contributions from the public.
  • In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, KMD-18 conducted a bomb attack on the junta police force (8) at about 7:00 pm Sunday. Reportedly, a junta policeman got injured.
  • In Wandwin Township of Mandalay Region, a junta captain named Kaung Myat Zaw was shot dead near Daunk-I Village on the evening of 25 August on his way to gather information about PDFs.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, the PDFs attacked the gate of the junta training force. Reportedly, a security policeman on guard died and another one was injured.
  • In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, the junta army shot mortars on Sunday evening,. Reportedly, a man lost his life and two men and two women were injured.
  • In Kyungsu Township of Taninthayi Region, local PDFs arrested 3 drug dealers on 22 August.
  • In Demoso Township of Karenni State, the focal person of the Rural Land, on behalf of Ko Thet Lwin, provided rice and oil to displaced people.
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, there was a battle near Ingabo Village on the Yangon-Mawlamyein Road on Sunday. Reportedly, no less than 10 junta soldiers died.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

  • In Muse Township of Northern Shan State, there was a battle between the junta army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) on Sunday afternoon as the junta soldiers were on their way to destroy roads. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta members.
  • In Chin State, a combined force of CDFs attacked the junta army regiment Ka-La-Ya (269) based in Thanglang on Monday morning.
  • In Mindat in Chin State, 2 junta soldiers died and 7 others were injured in fighting on Saturday morning.
  • The operations officer of Cobra Column stated that they would withdraw their force if Latkattaung is regarded as religious land and is not used as a military camp.
  • In Kawkarait of Kayin State, a combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army conducted a bomb attack via drone on the junta armed forces. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • According to the military junta on Sunday, it was just a rumor that they had replaced the junta navy chief and had been conducting inspections of the UAB Bank.
  • The military junta announced on Saturday that Dr. Yi Aye, U Tin Myint and Dr. Hla Nyunt had been appointed as members of the Board of Directors at the junta Central Bank of Myanmar.
  • The junta Minister of Economics and Commerce said that they would negotiate for the export of Myanmar’s coffee to the international market and the extention of the market.
  • The secretary of the junta YRTC said that they would forever dismiss the YBS drivers who drive pthrough red traffic lights three times.
  • The director of the junta Myanmar Pharmaceutical Factory stated that they would double the production of snake anti-venom starting from this year.

Summary on 29 August

  • In Northern Shan State and Chin State, there have been heavy battles between the junta armed forces and powerful ethnic armed organisations. Reportedly, the military junta might have suffered great losses.
  • It is necessary for the international community not to recognize the military junta, to stand for Myanmar people, like the East Timor government has, and to help with the downfall of the military dictatorship.
