The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • There will be Scholarships and Job Fair Series for CDM students attending the NUG University of Forestry and Environmental Study.
  • According to the Fire Department under the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, Myaung Township Fire Security Team was formed to prevent the junta’s burning activities, put out the fire and rescue the fire victims.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Butalin in Sagaing Region, there have been vacancy announcements for the junta General Administration Department. On Tuesday, local PDFs stated that they would regard those working for the military junta as junta informers.
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta armed forces set fire to over 2,900 houses, including monasteries and schools, in 22 villages in December.
  • In Yinmabin North, a combined rally of local people marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, raising the banner saying ‘2023 is the end for the military dog’.
  • In Kani Township, about 8,000 local residents have had to run away as the junta army has been invading the area.
  • On the border of Thabaitgyin Township in Mandalay Region and Kantbalu Township in Sagaing Region, there were battles for five days. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among 30 junta soldiers.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township, a convoy of four military trucks was attacked with mines between Taungtalone Village and Inpyan Village at about 6:00 am on Wednesday.
  • Reportedly, seven anti-junta university students and young people received prison sentences, ranging from four years to 26 years.
  • Since 25 December, anti-junta youth from Singapore, Korea and Myanmar have been producing and selling doormats containing the face of Min Aung Hlaing to raise funds for the Spring Revolution.
  • In Thayet in Magwe Region, there was an anti-junta banner that said ‘2023 is the end for the military dog’, near Taungminti Ward at the side of Thayet-Kamma Road on Tuesday night. Reportedly, there was also a mine attack on junta soldiers who were on their way to remove the banner.
  • CDM doctors have called on the public to contribute to their Mobile Operation Project so that they can go to the frontline and give medical treatment to injured PDF members and ethnic revolutionary forces.
  • The Dark Shadow UG, an Urban Guerrilla Force in Yangon, will attack the places related to the military junta in the city in 2023.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Monekoe District in Shan north (Special Region 1), the junta army conducted the bombing used a Su-30 fighter jet to bomb a fort occupied by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in the Laingyin Area at about 1:00 am on Monday. Reportedly, a member of the MNDAA was killed and five others were injured.
  • In the south of Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, the junta army launched an airstrike with two MIG-29 fighter jets on one of the KNLA bases near Laykaykaw at 12:00 am Tuesday.

The Military Council

  • According to junta police sources, the military junta has been arranging to destroy already harvested poppy fields in southern Shan State just for show.
  • In Mandalay, the military junta instructed private hospitals to close at least for four months, starting from 1 January 2023.
  • In Mandalay, junta members under the pretence of being patients arrested three medical personnel, including a CDM specialist, at two private hospitals.
  • On Tuesday, the second junta leader Soe Win said that since independence, there had been conflicts in the country for 75 years due to the divisions between old and new colonists.
  • In front of the US Embassy in Yangon, a rally of pro-military people, protected by security guards, protested against the United Nations (UN) and the United States on Wednesday morning.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing repeated that it was necessary to produce electricity from solar and wind power. He added that they would also develop ways to make power from rice husks.
  • In Rakhine State, the junta army has been putting pressure on IDPs to return home.
  • The Special Envoy of Asian Affairs, who took part in the peace process in Myanmar, will reportedly be replaced by Mr. Den Xijun, the former Chinese Ambassador to the ASEAN.

Summary on 29 December

  • In Yangon where there is no freedom of expression, the military junta conducted faked protests against the UN Security Council, the US Embassy and the UK Embassy by using daily paid people and nationalists.
  • Using the excuse that private hospitals in Mandalay have hired CDM medical personnel, the military junta has caused the people hardships by ordering all private hospitals in Mandalay to close for at least four months from 1 January.
  • China expressed its disapproval of the US law which will support democracy in Myanmar. Afterwards, they appointed a new special envoy on Asian affairs and suddenly sent him to Myanmar. It shows that China has been interfering with Myanmar’s affairs and they might hinder the restoration of democracy in Myanmar.
