Spring Revolution Daily News for 29 June 2022

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 6:30 pm Monday, there was the second meeting via video conferencing between Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw-CRPH and the Inter-Parliamentary Union–IPU regarding assistance programmes to the CRPH.
  • Giving an example of a businessman who donated 100,000 USD to the NUG, Union Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG urged other business people to feel the fear and do it anyway.
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that the international community became greatly interested in cooperation and action plans of revolution forces and they came to know about the public’s strengths in the revolution.
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that with regard to the fund from Mum’s Umbrella Campaign, they had discussed the allocation for Chin State and Karenni State with powerful public’s administration in addition to the spending for Sagaing Region and Magwe Region with the interim public’s administration in progress.
  • To support Pao revolution forces, the NUG, in cooperation with Pao National Federal Council-PNFC, got started with the sale of EOD shares and bonds locally and abroad.
  • The NUG announced that NUG Pay had launched an official web page related to DMMK-Digital Myanmar Kyat.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence-NUG, they awarded 304,000,000 lakh MMK to 18 members of the junta army (including officers) who had joined the public together with weapons.

Revolution Forces

  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners: AAPP, 2032 people have been killed by the junta armed forces from the military coup to 27 June 2022.
  •  
  • The leader of BRA-LDF UG said that they would take strong action against 4 people who had arrested one of their members at Yuzana Garden City.
  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Kume of Mandalay Region, Tin Tun Naing, the junta administrator of Ward 2, was assassinated by a local guerrilla force at 8:00 pm on 24 June.
  • In Myingyan Township, People Defense Force – Mandalay (MDY-PDF) cleared Kyaw Soe- the junta administrator of Zalutgone Village, his wife and Pyusawti member Zin Min Tun on the night of 25 June.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township, there was an attack with a Molotov cocktail on the house of a 100-household leader in Sa Ward on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, the whole house was burnt to ashes.
  • In Thayawaddy of Bago Region, there were exchanges of fire between junta soldiers on Yangon-Pyi road section on Monday night. Reportedly, a junta soldier named Zin Ko was seriously injured.
  • In Taungoo District, the junta armed forces arrested Ko Nyein Mg, a member of Bago PDF, and two women on 22 June. According to a PDF member, junta soldiers have been using the Facebook accounts of the arrested.
  • In Myinmu Township, PAFD shot dead Aung Khine, former administrator of Kanphya Village, and Aye Mar Kyu, Chair of Village USDP, at 9:00 am Monday.
  • On Tuesday, Kalay General Strike hung an anti-junta banner at the crossroads in town.
  • Chinese Wanbao Company expressed their condemnation against the attack on the Letpadaung copper mine project area in Salingyi Township. They also announced that they did not want to get involved in the current conflict.
  • As a 474-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship in memory of the martyrs on Tuesday morning.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta army raided Tone New Village on 23 June and killed two men; Ko Pauk Sa and Ko Kyin Wet. On Monday, their dead bodies were found. 
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, there were bomb attacks in front of a police station and near the communication office. Reportedly, there was also a grenade attack on the car carrying Kyaw Win, a member of the junta township administration.
  • In Hpakant of Kachin State, local people marched in support of the KIA, PDF and NUG on Tuesday. They also protested against the military dictatorship.

  • In Yangon Region, ward administrators and electricity staff have been cutting out power supply and taking away meter boxes from houses that have not paid their electricity bills.
  • On Monday morning, Yangon Regional Force announced that they had conducted attacks targeting local courts under the Justice Lady Mission.
  • In Rakhine State, junta vessels have been in the waterway of some areas and inspecting passers-by. Consequently, local people have faced hardships for their daily basic needs and health.
  • In Pulaw Township of Taninthayi Region, a combined force of PDFs attacked the junta inspection gate in Nantaung Village at 6:00 am Monday. Reportedly, 6 members of the junta armed forces died.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to Karen National Defence Organization-KNDO, they received the support worth of a million Thai Baht from the NUG as military expenses.
  • On Monday, Arakan Army-AA announced that the junta army had arrested 45 civilians, including those aged below 18, in 4 townships in the north of Rakhine State.
  • In Wawlay Myein Area of Myawaddy District, those in DKBA uniform have been joining hands with the junta army and BGF in the fight against the KNDO, KNLA and PDF.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, 24,000 acres of unused land were confiscated in the term of the junta land management central committee.
  • The junta electricity minister said that they had been making arrangements to produce more power from Mid-Paunglaung Plant based on Paunglaung Dam.
  • In Nay Pyi Taw, the junta Minister of International Cooperation met with Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar.
  • The junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce announced that they would temporarily change the rules of import licenses starting from 1 July.
  • According to International Committee of the Red Cross, the military junta has not agreed to their request to be allowed to visit prisons.

Summary on 28 June

  • Throughout the revolution for more than a year, the public still have been able to contribute to the revolution forces. Amidst prohibitions and arrests by the military junta in various ways, people have been brightening their own corner in the revolution. In other words, nothing can stop their anti-junta spirit.
  • Despite having some shortcomings, the Spring Revolution has made a lot of progress. According to the NUG, Chin State and Karenni State have powerful public administration. They have also been arranging budget allocation for those areas. Moreover, they have supported military expenses to the KNDO. Therefore, it can be said that activities of the NUG have improved recently.
