Spring Revolution Daily News for 29 October 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • According to Mindat Township People’s Administration, cows, gayals and buffalos have been suffering from foot and mouth disease in Matupi Area of Chin State. 
  • U Nay Bone Latt, the spokesperson of Union Prime Minister Office-NUG, said that having the common goal, they welcome and stand with Operation 1027 by the Northern Alliance. 
  • U Maung Maung Swe, spokesperson of Ministry of Defence-NUG, stated that they managed to bring the number of junta soldiers, about a regiment, to the People’s Embrace without bloody battles within two and a half months. 
  • In Naungcho Township of Shan State, Ta’ang National Liberation Army, in cooperation with Mandalay PDF, have been attacking the junta army camp in Thanbo Village. Reportedly, they have had heavy fighting. 
  • According to the Secretary of Ministry of Defence-NUG, the alliance of three ethnic forces informed the junta army from the Department of Population and Immigration in Laukkaing Township that they would conduct a military operation. However, the revolution forces were able to do their best due to poor management of the junta leader. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Pyinmanar Township of Naypyidaw Union Territory, the PDF attacked the junta army camp in Laphettaung Village. Upon hearing gunshots, all 22 junta soldiers ran away. Consequently, the revolution force took control of the camp without any casualties. 
  • In Indaw of Sagaing Region, three local people including a CDM teacher were sentenced to lifelong imprisonment and long-term imprisonment at the martial court. 
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta army has been invading the area since 21 October. Reportedly, they have killed up to 5 local men within a week. 
  • In the western part of Demoso Township in Karenni State, the junta army has been firing mortars almost on a daily basis. Reportedly, public’s houses have been damaged. 
  • In Northern Shan State, there has been heavy firing of mortars near Laukkaing until Saturday morning. 
  • In support of the revolution war, the NDOPSC and their alliance conducted an anti-junta movement somewhere in Yangon on Friday night. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Chinshwehaw of Northern Shan State, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) released a video in which a large number of junta soldiers had died in local battles, and many others have been caught as prisoners of war. 
  • According to the spokesperson of the MNDAA, they and their alliance managed to take control of over 30 junta army camps within two days after the Operation 1027 got started. 
  • On Saturday, the Military Management Committee of the MNDAA released a warning to the junta soldiers and militia members in Kokang Area to give up their arms. 
  • On the very first day after the announcement of Operation 1027 by the three members of the Northern Alliance, they managed to gain control of 4 junta army camps within hours, according to the Ta’ang National Liberation Army on Friday. 

The Military Council 

  • In Ingapu Township of Ayeyarwady Region, the manager of the junta Agricultural Bank has informed local farmers to repay COVID loans and the bank loans. 
  • In Mandalay Region, night curfew has been withdrawn, except in four townships with battles. 
  • According to air ticket agents, all the flights at Lashio Airport have been suspended indefinitely starting on 27 October due to the attacks under the Operation 1027 by the Northern Alliance in Northern Shan State. 
  • For the development of the MSMEs, 1,000 lots of Group C jade have been on sale in MMK to local traders in the gems-emporium. Reportedly, 999 lots were sold. 
  • The Chair of the junta Union Election Commission told the political parties to collect members legally and become strong ones which can serve their locality and the nation. 
  • Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, was present at the competition of cultural shows at the hall of the junta Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture on Friday night. 
  • In the junta propaganda media, Myanmar Writers’ Association stated that the rebels had conducted surprise attacks near Chinshwehaw and Northern Shan State on Friday morning, and they had caught the civilians as hostages. 

Summary on 29 October 

  • So-called writers in support of the military junta released false information without knowing the reality or they did so to please the junta leaders. In other words, they do not deserve the honorable title of ‘writer’ and they are just pro-terrorist people. 
  • In Northern Shan State, a large number of junta soldiers continued to die and they had to let go of their camps one after another. On the other hand, the military junta has been holding various funfairs to show crowded events indicate their continued popularity.
