The National Unity Government (NUG)

 

  • The Acting President of the NUG said that within a year of the People’s Defensive War, there were remarkable successes as well as bitter sorrows for their government and revolutionary forces. He also added that they had always been trying their best to end the revolution as soon as possible.
  • The Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that being the revolutionary government, they had to face various barriers and hardships. He also stated that they had been making an effort to drive away the inhumane military junta from the land of Myanmar.
  • Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that the country’s economy was predicted to collapse due to the mismanagement of the military junta which has been making trouble for the general public and gaining political advantages from the crisis.
  • The Union Prime Minister said that the NUG had joined hands with the Rohingya community, ethnic organisations, the Bangladesh Government and the United Nations for the voluntary, dignified, safe, secure and sustainable repatriation of Rohingya people taking refuge in neighbouring countries.
  • The Acting President said that the NUG had already made a commitment to abolish, amend and replace the laws with human rights violations and discrimination including the 1982 Citizenship Law.
  • The NUG stated that they would take action against responsible administration personnel and PDF members who fail to follow the rules.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The military junta announced that a bomb had been found in front of the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) in Naypyitaw. According to a leader of local urban guerrillas, it did not explode due to a technical error.
  • In Amarapura Township in Mandalay Region, the Truth Keeping Force conducted a bomb attack on the Daniel beer shop selling Myanmar Beer- a junta army product, on Sunday evening.
  • On Tuesday, anti-junta monks held a demonstration against the military dictatorship.
  • In Moegoke Township in Mandalay Region, there was a grenade attack on a military truck between Gwaybin Village and Laungzin Village at about 8:00 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, seven junta soldiers including a captain died.
  • In Dawei in Tanintharyi Region, there was gunfire at the junta immigration office and vehicle registration office on Tuesday at noon. Reportedly, a bullet hit former member of the traffic police and killed him.
  • In Insein Township in Yangon Region, a car carrying a judge from Insein Prison Special Court was attacked with gunfire between two local markets at 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
  • In South Dagon Township, the Special Task Agency of Burma (STA) used mines to attack a double cab pickup truck carrying members of the junta armed forces.
  • At 6:30 am on Tuesday, an anti-junta banner was hung on an overhead bridge near Kandawgyi Lake.
  • In Kani Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army was attacked with mines when they were on their way back from setting fire to Wardan Village at 1:50 pm on Monday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among 30 junta soldiers.
  • In Minkin Township, there was a battle near Maukkadaw Village on Monday morning. Reportedly, six members of the junta armed forces, including a police officer and a Pyu Saw Htee leader, died.
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship, holding signs saying "Reject the Military Accept the NUG".
  • In Monywa, local people have faced car crashes and loss of life due to the wild driving of junta army drivers. On Monday, a man was knocked down by a military car and died.
  • In Mae Sauk in Thailand, the police raided the Natural Meditation Centre on Monday night and arrested 38 Myanmar people. According to Thai media, there were some junta spies among the arrested.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In the north of Maungdaw Township, the Arakan Army (AA) attacked Kamaungseik strategic point for five days. However, by Tuesday afternoon they they still had not managed to take control of it.
  • In the Kawthoolei Administration Area of Hpapun District under the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (5), the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked the junta army stationed there. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • On Monday, the military junta announced that they had arrested 8 S.O.F members who had attacked them with 60mm grenade at Insein Prison in Yangon Region, together with their weapons.
  • The junta municipal department of Yangon Region stated that it would coordinate to ensure the smooth process of procedures related to local industrial zones for those who would like to invest in factories and workshops for electric vehicles.
  • Since 27 August, in Kyaiklatt Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta armed forces have been inspecting motorboats and vessels in the river using security as an excuse and then demanding money from them.
  • In the territory of Bangladesh, two mortars shot from Maungdaw fell and exploded. Reportedly, the junta Ambassador of Myanmar was sent for and cautioned.
  • The military junta announced that their armed forces had taken control of a PDF camp near Nyaungbinhla Village in Kawlin Township in Sagaing Region on 28 August.
  • The military junta announced that a combined force of the KKO and PDFs had attacked the staff fixing the electricity tower near Kawnwet Village in Kawkarait Township in Kayin State. Reportedly, four staff members were injured and another one died.

Summary on 31 August

  • The military junta announced that they had arrested those who had attacked Insein Prison. However, it was not the force that really carried out the attack. It could be a piece of false news from the junta propaganda media.
  • In Rakhine, Kayin states and Sagaing Region, there were still heavy battles. Also, the revolution by urban guerrillas gained momentum, even in Naypyitaw.
