The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Health-NUG announced that it was necessary for the public to take caution as the number of COVID-19 infected cases was on the rise in China, a neighbouring country of Myanmar.
  • The NUG expressed their heartiest congratulations to the Kayan ethnic lady Veronica who won the championship in Thai Fight 100 Years Nakornban held in Bangkok, Thailand on 24 December 2022.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, there was a graduation event for the interim education in the 2022 academic year. Reportedly, over 200 students were provided EOCD certificates.
  • The spokesperson of the NUG claimed that only the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing, which had sentenced national leaders to unlawful imprisonment, were national rebels.
  • On Thursday, the Ministry of Education-NUG issued a recommendation for the criteria of the interim basic education assessment.

Revolution Activities

  • U Min Ko Naing, one of the 88 Generation Students’ Leaders, stated that thinking of participation in the junta election was just asking for a share from robbers.
  • On Friday, a rally of anti-junta monks protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Mandalay, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw led a rally of Pyi/Gun against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • Ma Nan Twe Tar Oo, joint secretary of Yangon University of Education Students Union and member of Burmese Students Union, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
  • In Taninthayi Region, military vessels and fishing boats carrying junta soldiers have been sent to Myeik and Pulaw.
  • In Pulaw Township, there was a battle between the junta army and a PDF in To Village. Reportedly, junta soldiers arrested over 10 local people on Friday morning and set fire to two local villages.
  • In the east of Monywa in Sagaing Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta armed forces stationed at the new prison near Thazi Village.
  • On Friday, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship.
  • Eight innocent people, including a freelance journalist of DVB, were sentenced to lifelong imprisonment under the accusation of attacking a junta police camp on the highway.
  • In Shweku Township of Kachin State, the junta army set fire to Yele Village on Friday morning.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta army set fire to Magyi Laybin Village and Kannet Village. Reportedly, nearly 40 houses were burnt to ashes.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to the 5 EAOs in the Peace Process Steering Team on Thursday, they agreed with the NSPNC to the four points for the simultaneous election throughout the country.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta Rakhine State Government, they got started with the preparation for the junta’s election which would be held in August 2023.
  • In Nyaung Shwe Township of Shan South, the junta armed forces arrested the abbot of Nyaung Oat Monastery in In-Taing Village on the evening of 27 December.
  • The junta Yangon Regional Government released a statement that the curfew had been called off for a day for fun activities on New Year’s Eve.
  • The military junta officially announced that the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing had met with Deng Xijun, the new special envoy of China to Myanmar, in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • In Mandalay, the military junta hired some people for protests against the United Nations Security Council and the embassies.
  • On Friday, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi and President U Win Myint were each sentenced to 7 years in prison for the helicopter case.
  • Despite the release of members of Ayeyarwaddy Regional Government, Dr. Hla Myat Thwe, Social Minister, remains in detention.
  • Nay Pyi Taw Council Office announced that the Section 144 had been temporarily cancelled in the area.
  • The military junta stated that they would welcome and accept it if various organizations including PDFs gave up arms and joined the public life again.

Summary on 30 December

  • Discussing peace with the military junta is just supporting them to continue their violent activities all over the country. Besides, it can be said that those taking part in such discussion do it with the hope of sharing interests with the junta.
  • Amidst lack of security in the country, the military junta has been trying to hold the election by force for their escape. In other words, they have been making an effort to lie to the world with an elected government through their election.
