Spring Revolution Daily News for 4 June 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • U Aung Myo Min, a Union Minister of the NUG, stated that they would soon be able to rebuild a nation of peace, freedom and equality in accordance with the democratic desire of the public. 
  • On Saturday, there was a meeting between Union Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG and the Special Envoy of the United Nations Ms Noeleen Heyzer to Myanmar in Geneva, Switzerland. 
  • Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation-NUG supported food and medicines to the CDM elephants and the CDM mahouts. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, Special Nway Oo (SNO) conducted a mine attack on the local police station on Pyi Road at 8:30 pm Thursday. 
  • In Dagon Myothit Seikkam Township, an Urban Guerrilla group attacked the local police station with 40mm grenades at 8:45 pm Friday. 
  • Due to the statement about the establishment of PDF Regiment (5101) in Yangon Region, the military junta gave a security alert throughout the whole region. 
  • The military junta had arrested vocalist Byu Har for calling them and Min Aung Hlaing ‘Idiots’. No matter what, there was an anti-junta movement in Yangon Region on Saturday, hanging a sign- ‘They are still idiots’. 
  • Near the Chinese Consulate, there was a protest against the Chinese Communist Party and China for ignoring the democratic desire of Myanmar people and supporting the military dictators. 
  • Starting from the end of March, there has been heavy fighting all across Kayin State on a daily basis. 
  • In Mobye on the border of Shan and Kayah, a mortar fell on the roadside at 6:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, a young man aged 22, a resident of Pwegone Ward (2), lost his life. 
  • In Kyankhine Township of Ayeyarwady Region, a local rally conducted an anti-junta movement on Thursday afternoon. 
  • In Wetlet Township of Sagaing Region, 3 junta soldiers died in a local battle. 
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Kathar Township, the junta army set fire to Nyaung Chay Htauk Village. Reportedly, over 400 houses were burnt to ashes. 
  • On Saturday, Taze Township General Strike marched for the end of the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta signs. 
  • On Saturday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship. 
  • In KyarIn Seikgyi Township of Kayin State, there were attacks via fixed wing drone on Aledagun Police Station and the junta fire brigade. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, Hawk PDF burnt down a MyTel telecom tower, owned by the military junta, in Pidauk Nge Village. 
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, there were two attacks using missiles on Pyusawti Training in West Phonekan Village. Reportedly, the missiles fell onto the training hall and exploded. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • According to the Mutraw Newsletter, 122 junta soldiers including officers died in local battles in the area under Karen National Union Brigade (5) in May. 
  • In Pekone Township on the border of Shan and Karenni, 62 junta soldiers died in local battles for over two months whereas the revolution force lost 3 members. 
  • In Mong La of Shan North, there has been a meeting between the junta peace team and the Northern Alliance via the negotiation of a Chinese diplomat. Reportedly, they did not reach a political agreement and they had to stop on their second day. 

The Military Council 

  • The military junta announced that their peace team and the Northern Alliance would meet again at a mutually-convenient time. 
  • The junta Central Bank claimed that they had not shut down KBZ Pay accounts without any reason. 
  • The junta Minister of Education stated that they would accept the enrollment of students with difficulties until the end of June. 
  • On Thursday evening, there was a meeting among the junta Minister of Construction, the owner of Sky Net and the responsible personnel from Rakhine State Contractors’ Association in Sittway in Rakhine State. 
  • According to the junta YRTC, they would soon take action against the City Taxies which fail to change the registration of the sticker number on the side. 

Summary on 4 June 

  • The military junta and the Northern Alliance did not reach an agreement and they had to suspend their meeting. In other words, the junta’s idea to crack down on the revolution using China did not work. 
  • With an excuse using the coming storm, some business people have joined hands with the military junta and they have made an effort to obtain permits for various sectors.
