The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Under the invitation of the President of East Timor, the Union Minister of Foreign Affairs- NUG was in Timor as Myanmar’s Representative. During her trip, she met with the Speaker of Timor National Parliament.
  • At 10:00 am Tuesday, the NUG conducted their 22nd meeting. Present on the occasion were the Acting President, Union Prime Minister, Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
  • No. (3) Military Region released the photos of women members of Taungnyo Column under the Ministry of Defence- NUG having military experience and taking responsibility even in frontline battles.
  • At 10:00 am Monday, there was a meeting between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and Township People’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region and Mandalay Region.
  • The NUG gave a 4,000 lakh MMK reward to the Chin Defence Forces for destroying two junta army armoured vehicles.
  • The Union Prime Minister of the NUG claimed that they had been making an effort to put pressure on the military junta in various sectors such as foreign affairs, politics, warfare, economy and administration. He also expressed his faith that the military dictatorship would come to an end soon.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Monywa of Sagaing Region, the PDFs fired heavy artillery into the workshop and communication unit of the junta Northwest Military Headquarters at 8:30 pm Sunday.
  • In Salingyi Township, local PDFs conducted a guerrilla attack on a speedboat of junta soldiers on the Chindwin River going to Monywa.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army burnt 9 houses and 5 barns in Magyigone Village on Monday.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army started its invasion of Kalarlu Village on Monday night. Consequently, thousands of local residents had to run away overnight.
  • In the east of Wetlet Township, 2 junta soldiers died in a local battle.
  • Chindwin Fighter Group carried out an attack on a junta’s vessel on the way out of Monywa. Reportedly, the engine was hit and there were casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Sagaing Township, the junta army set fire to Talaing Village. Reportedly, over 100 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • On Tuesday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Phaungbyin Township, there were casualties among 30 junta soldiers including officers in fighting near Kawkan Village. Reportedly, two rifles and a large number of bullets were confiscated.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta armed forces set fire to two local villages. Consequently, 9 houses and 25 huts belonging to IDPs were burnt to ashes.
  • In Shwebo Township, the junta army shot dead two hostages: a PDF member and a civilian, on the Shwebo-Kyaukmyaung Road.
  • In Kyaukdagar Township and Yetashay Township of Bago Region, there was fighting between the junta army and PDFs for two days. Reportedly, 14 junta soldiers died.
  • In Latbadan Township, there were attacks on Ziphyu Gone Police Station and the casino. In the incident, 2 junta police sergeants and 2 Pyusawti members died. Afterwards, no less than 8 civilians were arrested by the junta army.
  • On the birthday of Thu Thu, Ma Muse, the Director of the Rural Land Social Group, provided food to the children of the IDPs in Karenni State.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, a junta sergeant named Mya Phone Shein was arrested by the PDFs. Reportedly, he died as he was hit with a bullet when he tried to grab a gun.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the west of Dimawso Township in Karenni State, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing of an IDP Camp on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, 3 family members including a child got injured in the incident.
  • In Myitkyina Township of Kachin State, there was a battle between the junta army and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) near Namsamyan Village on the Mandalay-Myitgyina Road.
  • In Thatone Township of Mon State, the junta army fired shells into Kyauk Taung Village. According to Karen National Union, two houses were damaged.

The Military Council

  • In the south of Myawaddy Town in Kayin State, the junta armed forces have been firing heavy artillery into local villages on a daily basis since 24 June.
  • According to local people and drivers, the military junta has blocked off the road connecting Kalay in Sagaing Region and Chin State.
  • In the import of weapons to Myanmar’s junta army, another 91 companies based in Singapore and India-based Bharat Electronics Limited got involved.
  • In Kwangtung province of China, the junta Union Minister of Industry and the delegation visited a factory manufacturing electric vehicles.
  • Citing the junta Ministry of Health, the Yangon Media Group stated that there were 604 doctors including house surgeons who would carry out their duties starting from July.
  • According to the junta Trade Department under the Ministry of Economics and Commerce, the export of minerals earned over 67 million USD from April to the end of June in the current fiscal year.

Summary on 5 July

  • Despite their lack of ability to supply electricity regularly in the country, the military junta has been trying to import electric vehicles. In other words, they have been barking up the wrong tree.
  • East Timor became the very first ASEAN member state which officially recognized the NUG as the government and made an official invitation to them.
