Spring Revolution Daily News for 8 November 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Via video conferencing, the Chair of the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) joined the discussions on the International Criminal Court and the Rule of Law at the 43rd ANNUAL FORUM OF PARLIAMENTARIANS FOR GLOBAL ACTION by the National Congress of Argentina. 
  • At 10:00 am on Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on Interim Public Administration and the Special Regional Public Administration Teams. 

Revolutionary Activities 

  • In Dawei in Tanintharyi Region, Min Htut, a former candidate of the Union Solidarity and Development Party, was shot dead at the crossroads near the local market on Monday morning. 
  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, a combined rally of rural revolutionaries and the Monywa Youth Union protested against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Salingyi Township, local people and family members conducted an event in memory of local martyrs who lost their lives 11 months ago. 
  • In Monywa, there was an anti-junta protest at Kyaukka Shweguni Pagoda with a banner that said - ‘The pagoda is closed today on the Fullmoon Day of Tazaungdaing’. 
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army arrested 14 people from Hlyaw Phyugone Village and Zeekana Village. 
  • On their 605th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Monday. 
  • In Myaung Township, a local PDF caught a junta vessel loaded with rations on the Chindwin River on Sunday and distributed the bags of rice to the public. 
  • In Madayar Township in Mandalay Region, Captain Aung Naing Soe, a resident of Mwetalaing Village, was shot dead on Monday morning. 
  • At the entrance to Mandalay, there was a mine attack on a military convoy near the Myitnge-Tonebo Tollbooth. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died on the spot. 
  • In Sittway in Rakhine State, three people were shot dead at the RV Restaurant. The incident happened at about 8:00 pm on Sunday. 

Ethnic Armed Organisations 

  • In the Kawthoolei Administration Area controlled by the Karen National Union (KNU), there were 3,845 battles from January to October 2022. Reportedly, 3,664 members of the junta army and the Border Guard Force (BGF) died whereas 2,700 others were injured. 
  • According to KNU Central, the junta BGF (1014) Unit (2) has been using the forced labour of 40 local people in extending the area of their Phayagone Camp. 
  • In Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, the junta army Ka-La-Ya (310) left the camp Point (1921) which contains a helicopter landing pad. 
  • In KyarIn Seikgyi Township, Ye Naing Thwe, a soldier from the junta army Ka-La-Ya 284 joined the CDM together with two guns, three grenades and many other weapons. 
  • In Hakha in Chin State, the junta army dropped bombs from fighter jets in the area near Thimyit Bridge, according to Chin National Army (CNA). 
  • In Mobye on the border of Shan and Karenni states, a combined force of KNDF-B03 and local PDFs arrested two drug dealers on 3 November following reports from the public. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta army arrested a member of the ABD Blood Donation Group on suspicion of being involved in the shooting of U Thet Oo, an officer of the junta fishery department, at the RV Restaurant in Sittway, Rakhine State. 
  • The military junta stated that Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and PDFs had fired 107mm grenades into Bamaw in Kachin State on Saturday. 
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the public could enjoy freedom of religion and that the state was protecting people’s freedom of religion as much as possible. 

Summary on 8 November 

  • The junta leader talked about freedom of religion and the protection of those freedoms. However, what he said is not to be trusted as he has not taken any action. The general public can see clearly that this generation of military dictators has just upheld nationalism and extreme religious views, and has ruled the country with fear. 
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been burning local villages on a daily basis. Despite this, local people have continued their protests against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Kayin State, the junta army has faced great losses in every local battle and the number of CDM soldiers is still rising.
