The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • According to Bloomberg, the NUG asked the US government to let it use 1 billion USD in Myanmar accounts frozen by the US government as backing for a new digital currency. 
  • In Gantgaw Township in Magwe Region, over 6,000 students have been taking chapter end tests at 77 interim schools under the NUG Ministry of Education. 
  • On the one-year anniversary of the People’s Defensive War, the NUG Union Minister of Defence said that the dedication of the ethnic revolutionary organisations (EROs) was the emergence among the public of an alliance of revolutionaries to defeat the enemy.
  • On 5 September, the Special Advisory Council on Myanmar stated that the military junta could take control of only 72 townships throughout the country, covering 17% of the land. 
  • On the one-year anniversary of the National Health Council, National Health Seminar to establish the Federal Health System is being conducted virtually from 5 to 9 September. 
  • The NUG Minister of Defence said that over the period of one year of the People’s Defensive War, all the prerequisites could be established for ta revolutionary victory and that they were determined to make the revolution succeed in the following year. 
  • According to the NUG Ministry of Labor, they have been making an effort to issue Overseas Employment Registration Card (OERC) to migrant workers at the end of September. 

Revolutionary Activities 

  • In Salingyi Township in Sagaing Region, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin, together with family members, paid tribute to the local people who had been shot dead by the junta army nine months ago. 
  • In Chaung-U Township, a combined rally of local villagers expressed their desire on Wednesday for the United Nations to keep U Kyaw Moe Tun as Myanmar’s Ambassador. 
  • In Khin-U Township, local PDFs conducted a bomb attack using a drone on the junta armed forces demanding money from cars and motorbikes on 2 September. Reportedly, 12 junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members died. 
  • On the 578th day of protest, a powerful rally of the Kalay General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, chanting anti-junta slogans. 
  • In Ayadaw Township, there was a bomb attack using a drone on the junta army stationed in Kanphyu Ywama School at about 5:00 pm on Tuesday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died. 
  • In Myinmu, an alliance of local PDFs conducted an attack with 40mm grenade on the junta armed forces in the compound of No. (1) High School at 8:15 pm on Tuesday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In Tanintharyi Region, a combined force of PDFs attacked the junta army somewhere on the Dawei to Tikhi Road. Reportedly, over 10 junta soldiers, including an officer, died. 
  • As the operation on the one-year anniversary of D-Day, local PDFs attacked the junta and Pyu Saw Htee membersin Kyungsu Township. Reportedly, two Pyu Saw Htee members, including a group leader, died. 
  • Permission was requested from the Indonesian Constitutional Court to sue the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and other military leaders at the Court of Indonesia for their war crimes and genocide.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, Lonekhine youths hung an anti-junta banner. 
  • According to a representative from the Stars of Myanmar Friendship Club, they would carry out their sit down strike until the junta consulate in Britain is closed down and the junta chancellor Soe Aung is driven away. 
  • In Shwepyitha Township in Yangon Region, the Yangon Urban Guerrilla Army (YUGA-Mo 7 Eagles) opened fire on the junta administration office of Ward (9) on Tuesday night. Reportedly, junta-appointed hundred household leader Aung Htoo died. 
  • In Indagaw Township in Bago Region, U Kyaw Hsint, the so-called leader of the junta ward defence team in Kinpainggyone Village, was shot by a local PDF as the first action of their Nan Htike Aung Operation. 

Ethnic Armed Organisations 

  • In Hpapun District under the control of the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 5, there were battles against the junta army and Border Guard Force (BGF). Reportedly, 12 junta members died in two days. 
  • In Thatone Township in Mon State under KNU Brigade (1), a military convoy was attacked with mines somewhere on the Yangon to Mawlamyine Highway. 
  • On the Myawaddy to Kawkareik Asia road section, a combined force and the KNLA conducted a surprise attack on the junta army. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died. 
  • In the vicinity of Muse and Namkam in Shan North, there was a fighting between the junta armed forces and the Northern Alliance on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, there was a battle near Kutkhine and Theinni on the same night.
  • Reportedly, there was a bomb attack using a drone on the house of the Chief Military Officer of the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta Minister of Labour said that Myanmar workers abroad were to send a fixed percentage of their income to the country and the term must be included in the contracts between employer and employee or agency and worker. 
  • The junta Minister of Trade & Commerce U Aung Naing Oo met with responsible personnel from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Myanmar Rice Federation on Friday. Reportedly, he said that they had been trying hard to stabilize the foreign currency exchange rate. 
  • The junta Minister of Labor said that the remittance of workers abroad was 6.152 billion USD over a period of 8 years. 
  • In his third trip to Russia after the military coup, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing had a chance to meet with the President of Russia. 
  • In his first meeting with Vladimir Putin, Min Aung Hlaing flattered the Russian President calling him the leader of the world.
  • In the Eastern Economic Forum held in Russia, Min Aung Hlaing said that a gas reserve of two trillion cubic feet had been found and commercial production would start soon. 
  • Min Aung Hlaing said that financial bullying would be overcome if the currencies of Russia, China and India were used in place of the USD. 
  • The junta leader said that Myanmar would buy petroleum and related products from Russia with Russian roubles. 
  • Rosatom the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation said that it would consider the feasibility of building a nuclear power plant in Myanmar. 

Summary on 8 September 

  • The junta leader was on cloud nine as he was able to meet with the President of Russia. In the Eastern Economic Forum, he offered the country’s resources to Russia. In other words, he offered to sell the nation cheaply. 
  • After a year of the People’s Defensive War, local PDFs managed to fully take control of nearly 30% of the townships and partially control another 20%. 
  • The armed revolution, which got started with traditional Tumi guns, has made progress and now revolutionary forces can be equipped with rifles and more modern weapons. They are also manufacturing arms.
