Yangon Region

· In addition to Hlaingthaya, Shwe Pyi Tha and North Okkalapa where military rule has been declared, South Okkalapa, Mingaladone, Hmawbi, Insein, Mingala Taung Nyunt, Bahan and Mayangone have been declared stay-at-home townships by the military junta.

· As the junta armed forces didn’t find Ko Aung Kant Bone, member of Hlegu Township Students’ Union, in their raid at his house on 6th July, they arrested his father of over 50.

· In Dagon Myothit East Township, two young people shot with pistol into the house of Khin Maung Than, former soldier and administrator of Ward (15), on Beda (2) street. A household leader and two junta policemen in plain clothes arrived there. After exchanges of fire, the administrator and a policeman named Pyay Phyo Wai were injured. One of the young gunmen was arrested and another one escaped.

· On Thursday morning, there was an explosion at the former Secretariat Office on the corner of Anawrata and Theinphyu roads. At that time, some officials were in the office to make inspections prior to the celebration of Martyrs’ Day. Enquiries are being made to know if there were any injuries.

· In Kamayut Township, the staff members of the electricity department, accompanied by junta police and soldiers, went to the houses which have not paid their electricity bills and made door-to-door collections of the bills.

· After some explosions at the electricity departments in Yangon townships the previous day, junta police and soldiers have been taking security measures at the electricity office near Hlaingthaya FMI and the office in Tamwe Township.

· At about 1:45 pm, there was an explosion at Golden Palace Jewelry of Daw Thet Thet Khine, a minister of the military junta, in Lammadaw Township. Reportedly, a salesperson was injured.

· In Lammadaw Township, the junta armed forces tightened security on Kyonegyi road and Maha Bandula road at about 4:00 pm. They then made inspections, in ordinary cars but also in buses.

Mandalay Region

· A rally of Man Variety Forces took to the streets on Thursday morning and expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship as well as for the emergence of a federal democracy. It included Phayagyi, Seinban, Cooperative University students and the local residents.

· With the cooperation of Man Phayagyi rally, Mandalay youth rally and Chan/Zi in Unity rally, a large number of people protested against the military dictatorship.

· In the afternoon, Manlay Pyinyat Monks’ Union went up to 66 road and peacefully expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.

· On Thursday morning, the youth of Myingyan Technology College Students’ Union expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, placing banners - “Uproot the military junta in every possible way” at mid-road barriers on Bogyoke road in Myingyan.

· In Moegoke, as Ma Thaw Thaw who had been issued warrant for joining anti-junta movements was not found in the raid of the junta armed forces at her house on 26th April, her parents and sister-in-law were arrested as hostages. On 30th June, her sister-in-law was released. Her parents have been charged with Section (505-a).

· According to Myingyan Public Movement Committee, the junta armed forces raided Alliance loan office in Ward (19) of Myingyan Township and arrested a staff member named Ko Sithu. They also raided Nay Pyi Taw bakery in Ward (18). As they didn’t find the owner, they arrested his son.

Bago Region

· In Taungoo Township, U Aung Naing, former soldier and junta-appointed administrator of Kyauk Pahto village, was shot dead by three unknown gunmen at his house on the night of 6th July. After the incident, the junta armed forces came to the village. Since then, they have been taking security measures there.

· Bago PDF announced on Thursday that they would conduct attacks targeting the junta departments which have been collecting taxes for the military junta.

· Bago Pyusawti group issued a list of 33 business people, accusing them of supporting the “terrorists” who terrify the public in Bago. They say they will take revenge if pro-NLD terrorist groups carry out violence in Bago and neighbouring areas.

Sagaing Region

· In Katha Township, the junta armed forces arrested Ma Khin Myo Thet, member of Ayakamtha Oxygen Donation Organization, and 8 affiliates on 4th July. Since then, they have been out of contact with their families. On Thursday morning, the junta armed forces arrested her father-in-law who had been receiving medical treatment in Mandalay.

· At about 10:30 pm Wednesday, a ordinary car of the military junta was attacked with mines on their patrol near Lotus round-about at the top of Magyidaw street in Ye-Oo. When the car broke down, five unknown people opened fire with Tumi guns. In the incident, a policeman named Myo Zaw died and the other two were injured. Reportedly, one of the attackers lost his life as well.

· In Myaung Township, U Thein, junta-appointed administrator of Sweleo village, and his companion Ko Yar Zar Soe were shot dead near Phwasaw village on Wednesday. After the incident, the junta armed forces raided the village and arrested 10 local residents.

· Monywe Heroes Group announced that the staff members of the city development committee and the electricity department are to stop collecting taxes in Monywa Township. If they continue to do it, the lives of their family members and relatives will be in danger.

· Kalay residents protested against the military dictatorship, scattering flowers at the place where Ko Arkar Thu Aung lost his life due to the firing of the junta armed forces with mortars 3 months ago.

· In Kani Township, more than 100 junta soldiers made an overnight stop in Ohmma village on Wednesday night. During their presence, they raided the village and killed and ate domesticated animals of the villagers. Reportedly, they left for some other villages on Thursday morning.

· To mark their 120-day protest, a rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

· In Salingyi Township, Latbadaung Taung General Strike go round the villages every day without fail and express their desire for the end of the military dictatorship.

Magwe Region

· On 6th July, the junta armed forces raided an IDP camp in Saw Township and took away 20 motorbikes. They then destroyed the remaining ones by setting them on fire.

· In Myothit Township, U Pho Kaung, junta-appointed administrator of Koyan (South) village, was hit with 7 arrow strikes at about 4:00 pm Wednesday and sent to Magwe hospital for medical treatment.

· Myaing Township Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from the northern zone, went round the villages on Thursday morning and made a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship.

· A rally of the southern zone in Myaing Township went round the villages and expressed their desire for the end of the military dictatorship.

· Some young residents of Yenangyaung made an indoors strike, holding sheets of paper containing best wishes for PDFs and anti-junta slogans.

· The military junta has declared Gantgaw a stay-at-home township.

Taninthayi Region

· In Dawei, local PDFs attacked the people’s army in charge of security at Yawnmaw village school between 11:30 pm Wednesday and 2:30 am Thursday. After the attacks, some military trucks came there and they were attacked with mines. After the exchanges of fire, two PDF members lost their lives. Enquiries are being made to know about the injured on the side of the military junta. In the morning, the junta armed forces raided the houses in the village and arrested 4 local residents.

· Dawei General Strike, together with a rally of young students, chanted anti-junta slogans and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

· A rally of Dawei Variety Forces went round the town on motorbikes and protested against the military dictatorship, banging pots and pans. Although the junta armed forces made a crackdown, no one was arrested.

· In Longlone Township, Nyinmaw villagers made a protest amidst the rain, holding banners - “We will never kneel down before your army boots”. There were also rallies against the military dictatorship in Thagyettaw and Maungmagan villages.

· In Longlone Township, the youth, the students and the public went round the township and expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.

Kachin State

· At about 5:00 pm Wednesday, the junta armed forces stopped a car from Winemaw at Bala Minhtin bridge which joins Myitgyina and Winemaw. They opened fire as the car didn’t stop. Instead of the car, Ma Mee, a seller at the tollbooth near the bridge, was hit with a bullet and died.

· In Pha-Kant, there was an explosion under the bridge in front of the primary school in Ayemya Thaya Ward at about 8:00 pm Wednesday.

· With a large number of people, local residents of Pha-Kant Lonekhine village group protested against the military dictatorship, holding signs - “There must be no place for the junta in our age”. The people in Hweka went round the village and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship. The public from Tamakan Myothit expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship, holding posters - “This fight must be the end to the military junta”. Pha-Kant townspeople also expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

· After a child of Putao district administrator tested COVID-19 positive at the high school in Putao, other students don’t come to school. Therefore, the school has to be closed. There are about 600 students in that school.

· The public in Moegaung made a protest against the military dictatorship at dawn, raising banners - “We won’t kneel down before your army boots”.

· The residents of Nammati made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship at dawn, raising the flags of Spring Revolution.

Kayar State

· In Bawlake Township, the military junta dismissed 42 education staff members who have joined the CDM to stand with the public.

· In Dimawso Township, local residents of Sanpya (6) Mile and Lewo villages fled to Sintaung village group during the battles in the township. They cannot return home yet and thus, they are in need of medicine and food.

Kayin State

· According to the instruction of the military junta, the basic education schools in Kayin State are to be closed temporarily starting from Thursday to 16th July.

· In Myawady Township, there are more than 550 COVID-19 patients. Although medical treatments are available at the COVID center, 3500 Kyats has to be given for food per day and 20000 Ks for two COVID tests.

Chin State

· Committee Representing Chin Hluttaw (CRCH) announced on Thursday that they have approved of Chinland Defense Force which have been fighting against the military junta. Without thorough observation of the activities of elected MPs and without asking township CDFs, CDF Headquarters has made an announcement which causes misunderstandings. Therefore, special care needs to be taken not to damage the unity. On 3rd July, CDF Headquarters warned some elected Chin MPs to stop their persuasion that support would be provided only when the CDF goes under the PDF. They also announced not to establish any other forces with the name of PDF.

Mon State

· The public in Paung Township made a protest, holding signs against the military dictatorship and against the staff members who have not joined the CDM.

· In some wards of Mawlamyein, Pyusawti members, backed by the military junta with weapons, placed threatening signs which contain 11 people including NLD EC member U Soe Win Aung as national traitors, accusing them of doing destructive acts.

· The military junta has declared Mawlamyein, Than Phyu Zayat and Thatone as stay-at-home townships.

Rakhine State

· As bank withdrawals are limited in buying food for the IDP camps in Rakhine, the camps have been confronted with lack of food.

Shan State

· In Kukkai Township, a motorbiker placed a sheet of paper in Manlwe village on Wednesday. It contained the images of members of TNLA, MNDAA and ULA/AA saying that they want to save the public who face injustice and lose lives under the military junta. It was addressed to Myanmar army officers.

· In Kaungka village of Kyaukme Township, a mine, set by an unknown group, exploded on the way to farms at about 12:30 pm Wednesday. Two women, Daw Aye Main and Daw Aye Pain, were injured in the incident. Daw Aye Pain died on arrival at home.

· On Thursday, the RCSS/SSA called for a peaceful solution in Shan North as the problem will get worse if the battles with the SSPP/SSA and TNLA continue.

· In Namsam Township of Ta-ang region, the junta city development committee has been putting pressure for the payment of water bills for 6 months. They haven’t collected it after the military coup.

· Some young residents of Namkam made a guerrilla protest, holding sheets of colorful paper with anti-junta slogans.

Nay Pyi Taw

· Norway-based telecommunications operator Telenor has sold its businesses in Myanmar to Lebanon-based M1-Group with 105 million US$. That M1-group owns most shares of Irrawaddy Green Tower – IGT which have installed towers for military-owned Mytel. 

· Bridgestone, a company producing globally famous tyres, announced that they would stop their investments in Myanmar at the end of July.

· According to AAPP, there were up to 897 people who lost their lives due to ruthless killing after the military coup until 7th July.

· The NUG established a National Commission for COVID-19 prevention, treatment and control, led by the acting President.

· After the military coup, Google has restricted its services related to education and business in Myanmar, except for individual use. They have done the same in the countries with human-rights violations and the dictatorship.

· Through the central bank, the military junta has sold 6 million US$ through a bidding system. They sold 3 million US$ per day for the last three days.

Summary on 8th July

· In Yangon, public protests were silent on the streets. However, there were explosions at the junta electricity departments. A grenade was thrown into Golden Palace Jewelry owned by Daw Thet Thet Khine, a minister of the military junta. The junta armed forces tightened security in downtown areas. Informer-clearance activities in Yangon are continuing.

· In Mandalay, the public protests were ongoing with great momentum. The military junta still tightened security measures. They continued to arrest family members as hostages if they didn’t find their wanted person.

· In Taninthayi Region with public protests, local PDFs and the junta armed forces started fighting.

· In other states and regions, there were still public protests on the streets. As for Shan State with a high rate of COVID-19 infection, they had almost no protests.

· The military junta has been selling dollars every day with the excuse of controlling the high price of dollars. They have been confronted with hardships in local currency. Using their armed forces, they have been collecting electricity bills and other taxes. They have been falsely claiming that international investments are still flowing into the country. On the other hand, some international businesses which have been working in Myanmar for nearly a decade have withdrawn their activities. With regard to legitimacy, the military junta still faces international pressure.
