The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, claimed that at the time of the stakeholders trying for humanitarian assistance in Myanmar, the military junta has been using a 4-cuts policy to prevent humanitarian aid reaching the needy, especially those in conflict zones.
  • At 1:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.
  • On 5 June, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Minister of Health and Education- NUG, went to the International Headquarters of Project C.U.R.E in Denver of Colorado State in the US. Reportedly, he discussed contributing medicine and medical equipment to Myanmar.
  • At 3:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and Committee Representing Sagaing Regional Hluttaw.
  • At 10:00 am Wednesday, there was a meeting via video conferencing between the Network of Myanmar Women MPs and the Women Parliamentarians Caucus of Sri Lanka.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Kyauktaka Township of Bago Region, revolutionary force shot dead a member of the junta administration and his follower Thura; the administrator of Bawdigwin Village.
  • In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Yekansu Village and killed five local people.
  • In Kawlin Township, the junta army arrested 9 people including a member of the local administration in Kantha Area. They then killed the group.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta army shot mortars at Baikthayet Village.
  • In Sagaing Township, the Unicom Guerrillas burnt two cars confiscated by Pyusawti members in the compound of a monastery near Marletaw Village.
  • Regarding the charges against Myanmar’s Army on Rohingya people, some members of Myanmar’s Rohingya Minority made a statement in prison at the court in Buenos Aires for the first time on Wednesday. Reportedly, it was a part of Argentina’s judiciary investigation.
  • In Taninthayi Township of Taninthayi Region, some local people had to run away from Nyaungbingone Village because of local battles. Reportedly, they were arrested by the junta army on their way back home on Wednesday.
  • According to the Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management- NUG, the southwest monsoon may enter the whole country of Myanmar in the second week of June and there may be heavy rainfall in coastal areas such as Rakhine State, Mon State, Taninthayi Region and Yangon Region.
  • According to Human Rights Watch (HRW) on Thursday, the military junta has been disturbing Myanmar lawyers working for the political detainees at court and they have even imprisoned some such professionals. They added that many lawyers had to stop accepting the cases.
  • Indonesian Waters Security Agency and Malaysian Waters Rule of Law Agency agreed to cooperate and deal with the issue of Rohingya refugees who have run away from Myanmar to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia including Malaysia and Indonesia.
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, a rally of Kyankhine Township Strike Committee conducted an anti-junta movement, holding signs against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yankin Township of Yangon Region, the junta army has accommodated the captains and soldiers who have lost body parts in battles at apartments in Kanbe Municipal Compound.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, the Rural Land treated IDPs to beef and bean curry on Thursday as a birthday donation of Bone Thaw Sit.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the Basic Education Students’ Union (Central) marched against the military dictatorship in commemoration of the Workers’ Revolution.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In the Kawthoolei Administrative Area under the Karen National Union (KNU), a combined force under Karenni Nationalities Defence Force conducted simultaneous attacks at 5 places of the junta armed forces in Mu Township and Ledo Township.
  • In Kokang Area, there was heavy fighting between Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army and the junta armed forces from 2 to 6 June.
  • After a battle against the junta army on the Matupi-Mindat Road in Chin State, local CDF announced on Wednesday that the public are not yet to use the road section.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township of Bago Region, there were battles in Natthangwin, killing 40 junta soldiers. Afterwards, the military junta forced local people to move elsewhere and nearly 5,000 people have had to run away.
  • In the area under Karen National Liberation Army Brigade (5), 5 junta soldiers died in battles from 1 to 3 June.

The Military Council

  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, the military junta has killed 7 monks and arrested 106 others since the military coup in February 2021 to 7 June 2023. Reportedly, 89 monks are still in detention.
  • The Union Supreme Court turned down the special appeals for the cases of former Nay Pyi Taw Mayor Dr. Myo Aung and former Social Minister of Yangon Region U Naing Ngan Lin.
  • On Thursday morning, there was the launching ceremony of the Aungbale Online Lottery. Present on the occasion was the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • On Wednesday, the junta Minister of Hotel sand Tourism received a delegation of the Myanmar-China Tourism Promotion led by Executive Director Mr. David Liu in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • For systematic activities of sending workers to Thailand via the MOU Term, the military junta has been arranging a meeting of labour experts between the two countries.
  • On Thursday morning, there was an event at the Headquarters of the Union Solidarity and Development Party in Nay Pyi Taw on their 13th anniversary. Reportedly, U Khin Yi, the Chair of the Party, pledged that they would do their best to win in the junta’s election.

Summary on 9 June

  • With the excuse of transforming the national lottery to an online system, the military junta transferred it to Viettel Group, their Vietnamese economic partner.
  • In the 2020 General Election, the junta army’s proxy USDP faced a loss. Only after the coup, the Chair of the Party said that they would try their best to win the junta’s illegitimate election. It has been a funny joke among the public.
