The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The One-Day Challenge, Anti-Coup Committee (Korea) donated Korean Won worth $100,000 USD to the NUG on 4 May. So far, they have supported 1.7 million USD in total.
  • According to the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence- NUG, the revolution forces including PDFs had nothing to do with the shooting of a convoy of international diplomats in Hsisai Township in Shan State because of the positions in terms of geographical location, information and stationing.
  • To promote relations between Myanmar and Australia, the Minister of Human Rights- NUG went to Australia.
  • At 10:00 am Sunday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and the Township People’s Administration from Taninthayi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.
  • According to Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw, they had a meeting with Ministry of Electricity- NUG on 5 May to approve an application for transformer and home-use power meters.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence- NUG, PDFs attacked Sakangyi Camp and the junta army invaded the border area of Thabaitgyin Township and Sintku Township in Mandalay Region.

Revolutionary Activities

  • The Secretary General of the ASEAN stated that they have been collecting information to provide necessary humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.
  • On Monday, the President of Indonesia denounced the attack on the ASEAN officers providing humanitarian assistance to Myanmar. He also called for an end to violence in the conflict-hit country.
  • In Phyu Township of Bago Region, Ko Bo Bo was arrested on the morning of 4 May because he did not have a motorbike license. Reportedly, he died at about 2:00 am Sunday.
  • In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army raided a PDF camp and burnt it and took over 20 people as hostages.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta armed forces have been invading 7 local villages. Consequently, over 3,000 people have had to run away.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army conducted an invasion on Monday morning. Reportedly, around 7,000 local people had to run away.
  • On Monday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship.
  • A combined rally of Wetlet Township General Strike, Monywa Township General Strike and Wetlet Students’ Union protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In commemoration of the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Basic Education Students’ Union, Wetlet Township Students’ Union organized a public talk.
  • On Monday, a combined rally of villages from Yinmabin and Salingyi marched against the Chinese Government, burning Chinese flags.
  • In Monywa, there was an attack on the junta army in the former immigration office. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of ‘Never Step Back’ led a march against the Chinese Government.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • Dr. Thiri Mon Chan, Chair of Mon State Defence Force, called on the Karen National Union (KNU) to investigate the case of some MSDF members being shot.
  • In Duplaya District under the KNU Brigade (6), there were 29 local battles in April. Reportedly, 107 junta soldiers died and 85 others, including officers, got injured.

The Military Council

  • According to local residents, a group of pro-military people destroyed the regional building of the National League for Democracy in Mandalay Region.
  • In Loilinlay on the border of Shan and Karenni, a junta soldier shot dead his senior officer, who had slapped him in the face, at Tiseka Gate.
  • The junta propaganda leader General Zaw Min Tun claimed that they had been carrying out activities for the public to overcome natural disasters with the least losses.

Summary on 9 May

  • The Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw should discuss more important matters and policies for the public in the revolutionary period and they should not focus on petty things.
  • In the upcountry region, the junta armed forces have been invading areas and burning villages. Consequently, tens of thousands of people have had to run away. They have been staying inside the area as it is not a border region. Reportedly, they are badly in need of food.
