Two Yangon junta administrators injured in shooting

Three people, including two junta administrators, were injured in a shooting at the Ward 81 community hall in Yangon City’s Dagon Seikkan Township at about 9:00 a.m.on 28 November.

Dagon Seikkan Township People's Defense Force (PDF) shot and severely injured Ward Administrator Kyaw Than, 100-household administrator San Hlaing Win, and driver Aung Naing Thu, according to Dagon Seikkan Township PDF.

After the attack the PDF members were able to retreat without suffering any casualties.

Captain Sit Naing, the commander of Dagon Seikkan Township PDF said: "The Junta appointed ward administrator and the 100-household administrator were constructing a new ward administration office in ward 81. The community hall for the ward was located next to the new administration office. So, while they were inside the community hall, we entered and pretended to take a guest list registration form before shooting them.”

He explained that the victims were taking money from squatters, selling land they were not authorised to sell and oppressing residents by threatening them with knives.

Captain Sit Naing said: “If junta-affiliated people harm civilians we will attack and kill them. Our purpose is to root out the regime from the country. Bullying, oppression and dehumanisation are completely unacceptable. We want to send a message to the people telling them that we are trying to fight against the regime for their sake.”
