One woman is in a critical condition and three other people were injured following a bomb blast at an internet gaming centre in Mandalay City on 19 September.

The bomb blast at the gaming centre on 114th Road between 50th Street and 51st Street happened at about noon on 19 September.

“One woman was seriously injured with a head injury. The three other injured people are not in a serious condition. They have all been taken to Mandalay General Hospital. The victims’ names and where they are from is still not known. Then [after the explosion] Military Council soldiers set up a roadblock and checked the neighbourhood”, said a local resident.

Following the explosion junta soldiers randomly arrested who were walking near the gaming centre and accused them of being the bombers, according to local residents.

Junta media claimed that Military Council troops had received advanced warning about the attack and had arrested two people’s defence force (PDF) members and that no one had been injured during the arrests.

There has been no statement about the attack by any local PDFs or defence force groups.
