Twenty Myanmar junta soldiers were killed and two were detained after armed clashes in Mobye Township, southern Shan state, on 26 April, according to the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) Battalion 3.

Defence forces attacked junta soldiers from Infantry Battalion 10 under Light Infantry Division 66 of the Military stationed in Nyaung Wine Ward

The fighting lasted for more than four hours and defence forces seized 14 rifles, one RPG-7 and two 60m pistols from the junta troops, said the KNDF.

During the fighting, several defence force fighters were injured when the junta fired artillery and launched four airstrikes in support of their soldiers who were being attacked. The artillery fire also destroyed many houses, according to the Moe Bye People's Defense Force (MBPDF), another defence force involved in the fighting.

The junta military units that fired the artillery were named as the Pekon Field Artillery Regiment, the Loikaw Field Artillery Regiment, and the Mobye Infantry Battalion 422 by MBPDF.

The defence forces involved in the attack were the KNDF, the MBPDF and the Urban Revolutionary Front (URF).
