30 junta soldiers killed in mine attacks by militia in Sagaing

A local militia group in Sagaing region carried out a landmine attacks on a convoy of junta forces on the Gangaw-Kalay motorway on 23 August, killing about 30 soldiers while 15 were injured, according to the group.

Yaw Defence Forces posted video clips on its social media page to confirm that out of the 8 trucks, carrying junta forces, the blast hit the first car in the convoy and the third and fourth cars were damaged.

The statement of YDF also said, “16 members of YDF attacked the convoy of junta forces with 2 rocket launchers, 3 landmines.”

The YDF forces continued attacks on fleeing soldiers causing more fatalities.

The bodies were taken back to Gangaw by two cars.

The YDF was formed on 12 May 2021 and is comprised of Yaw, Taungthar and Chinpone and operates under the guidance of the National Unity Government.
