A celebration to mark the 74th Chin National Day was successfully held for the first time on 20 February at the Chinland Defense Force’s (CDF) Mindat Township Military Headquarters.

There was a brief Chin National Day celebration held in front of the General Administration Office in Mindat Township, but a larger event that included sporting competitions was held in the CDF-Mindat-controlled area.

Chin National Day celebrations started on 10 February. On the same day the junta also launched a military offensive against villages in Mindat Township with more than 300 troops.

February 20 is regarded by Chin people as Chin National Day and it is one of the most important days of the year for Chin people. They also celebrate Chin National Day in the various countries where members of the 53 ethnic Chin groups have settled.

Though Chin National Day is not officially recognized as a national holiday in Myanmar, celebrations are often arranged by the Chin State Government in collaboration with local Chin State community leaders.
