As of the morning of December 21, 90 percent of the more than 800 people infected with COVID-19 in Mahachai Thailand, were Myanmar workers, according to the Migrant Workers Rights Network (MWRN), which helps Myanmar migrant workers and is based in Mahachai.

To date, the Thai government has only released the number of people infected with COVID-19 and we want to know exactly where and how the infected Myanmar workers were kept, said Than Zaw Htike of the Migrant Workers Rights Network (MWRN).

"As far as we know, the infected workers were kept in their rooms. No one was taken to hospital. According to insiders, the number of people hospitalized to date is just over 30. This is what we know from our secret source. We know that the rest of the people are still in their dormitories.” he said.
