Alleged Myanmar junta informant killed in Mandalay Region

An army veteran who was an alleged informer was killed in Mandalay Region’s Patheingyi Township at about 5:15 p.m. on 20 November.

Myint Swe, a 50-year-old army veteran was shot and killed by a combined force from Village, G-6 Stars Urban Guerrillas and Patheingyi Township People’s Defence Force (PDF) in Patheingyi Township's Yaehtwet Village.

A Yaehtwet villager said, "two undercover gunmen shot him at close range on the road and he died at the scene."

Locals claim that Myint Swe had received numerous warnings from local PDFs for failing to speak up for locals after the military coup and for providing information to the military council.

Since the February 2021 coup many alleged informers have been killed throughout the country.
