Armed conflict has accelerated in Waingmaw Township in Kachin State since 3 August.

Local battalion No. 58 of the military exchanged fire with the Kachin Independence Army and People’s Defence Forces , said locals.

Local sources said the attacks were carried out by the PDF under the command of KIA.
