Beijing says China and India should both make use of their large populations and make a greater contribution to "humanity's future". According to the United Nations, India is set to dethrone China this year as the most populous country in the world.

China also says it welcomes a visit by the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken to China, scheduled to happen in early February.
